Causes and Symptoms - pleurisy

Pleurisy is an inflammatory process that develops on the pleura. Pleura is a thin epithelial membrane that covers the lungs and lining the cavity of the chest from the inside.

Symptoms - pleurisy.

Symptom one. The most important symptom, which gives an inflammation of the pleura, is very severe pain in the chest when inhaled. Difficult breathing contributes to the appearance of dry cough, which causes even more pain. Since the nerve endings go to the abdomen and shoulders, the painful sensations are also transmitted there. Thus, the pain you experience throughout the torso.

Symptom two. Difficult intermittent breathing, the appearance of dyspnea. A fluid accumulates in the pleural cavity , which, depending on the composition, can lead to fever or weakness.

Symptom three. Since pleurisy is an inflammatory disease (and all diseases ending in - it (except for cellulite), are inflammatory), then the temperature rises. At first it is insignificant, then crosses the mark at 38 degrees.

Symptoms of pleurisy are four. A person can acquire a bluish shade, which will be indicative of pulmonary edema. The veins on the neck will increase several times (swollen). In case of inflammation, symptoms may appear, pleurisy can not be determined.

Pleurisy is the cause.

• Low immunity, which is not able to combat "attacks" from the external environment. A slight hypothermia of the body with such immunity can lead to inflammation.

• Pleurisy can become a consequence (complication) of various diseases, including a heart attack.

• If the lungs are already damaged by the disease of the respiratory system - pneumonia, tuberculosis, arterial thrombosis;

• The most common cause of inflammation of the pleura is infection. Together with the blood, the pathogens of many serious diseases fall into the lungs: staphylococci, E. coli, tuberculosis pathogens, pale treponema (the causative agent of syphilis), various viruses.

Depending on the cause of pleurisy, it can be purulent, exudative, dry and tubercular. Symptoms of dry pleurisy - the easiest form of the disease, are clear - it is dry or with insignificant secretion cough, chest pain, body aches, weakness, general fatigue, noise when rubbing the pleura.

Causes, symptoms, pleurisy, pleura, inflammation - it's all clear. What are the methods of treating pleurisy?

If you find symptoms (pleuritis under them approached), then you need immediate hospitalization. In the hospital, the patient will be supervised by experienced doctors who will understand the causes of inflammation and prescribe a course of treatment. Depending on the type of pleurisy, treatment will differ. If this is a dry pleurisy, then it will be cured in two weeks, if it is purulent, it will take much more time.

Without bed rest there can not be, because to relieve the pain the chest will be tightly bandaged. If you endure the pain will be difficult, then take painkillers (in moderation).

Use mustard compresses - the old grandmother's method will definitely help.

With purulent pleurisy, antibiotics and other anti-inflammatory drugs can not be avoided. Let antibiotics destroy the entire microflora of the body, but you need to kill the infection. Be sure to drink vitamins and keep bed rest! Reduce the amount of liquid drunk (with purulent pleurisy).

If the situation is started, then surgical intervention can not be avoided. During the operation, pus is pumped out of the lungs and pleural cavity, all are washed with antiseptics. After the operation, there will be a recovery period, in which you have to pamper yourself with vitamins and mineral complexes, and relax more.

Take care of your health, and most importantly - remember: it is better not to admit illness, than to treat it later.
