Categories of recruits. The distinction between the concepts "limited in scope" and "suitable with insignificant restrictions"
All citizens subject to compulsory recruitment for military service must undergo a medical examination, the purpose of which is to identify possible contraindications to its carrying. There are only five standard categories of validity, denoted by the first uppercase letters of the Russian alphabet (A, B, C, D and D respectively). We will tell about them in more detail, paying special attention to the differences between the concepts "limited-fit" and "good with insignificant restrictions".
Category "B" ("limited fit") differs from category "B" by the presence of more serious diseases, not implying an early recovery of the body. As a rule, the persons assigned to it are enrolled in the reserve and are not subjected to a call for service in peacetime. The category "limited in scope" includes diseases such as tuberculosis, epilepsy, syphilis, CNS disorders, spinal cord or brain injury, glaucoma, etc. The presence of the same ailments, but in a more serious or even "neglected" stage, is the reason for assigning the category "D" ("not fit for military service").
We will not disregard the category "G", which provides a temporary postponement from military service (for a period of six months to a year). As a rule, this category is assigned in the presence of any injuries or diseases: bone fracture, obesity, dystrophy, etc. After the expiration of the grace period, the military commissariat will send the summons again.
In this article, we gave a brief description of the main categories of fitness for military service, and also delineated such subtle concepts as "limited-fit" and "fit with insignificant restrictions". These useful information will allow conscripts to prepare in advance for the passage of a medical commission.
