Candles "Livarol"

Candles "Livarol" are a medicinal product belonging to the group of antifungal (antimycotic) agents. The active substance is ketoconazole, which manifests its activity against pathogenic microorganisms that affect the woman's vagina.

Candles "Livarol" have in their composition of 400 mg ketoconazole each. These candles resemble the shape of a torpedo, painted in cream or white. Produced in packages of five or ten pieces.

Candles from the yeast "Livarol" have a harmful effect on fungi, related to yeasts (pitirospores and candida), as well as to dermatophytes (epidermophytes, microspores and trichophytes). In addition, their antibiotic effect on staphylococci and streptococci is noted.

Candles "Livarol" are used to treat the following diseases:

- Thrush in a chronic stage (in the presence of periods of remission and exacerbation of the disease);

- Acute vaginal candidiasis, accompanied by white discharge and a lot of other symptoms;

- violation of the vaginal microflora.

This remedy is also used for preventive purposes to prevent candidiasis during the recovery period after an infectious disease (because in this situation the protective functions of the organism are significantly reduced).

Candles "Livarol". Contraindications

The drug has almost no restrictions in use. The only exceptions are two cases:

1. Individual intolerance of the active substance or other constituents.

2. Early pregnancy (up to twelve weeks). Since during this period there is a process of formation of the basic organs and systems of the fetus.

If it is necessary to use this product during lactation, it is recommended to consult a doctor / gynecologist beforehand.

It should be noted that there were no cases of drug overdose.

Possible side effects of its use are the following:

- irritation and reddening of the mucous membrane at the injection site;

- itching and burning in the vagina;

Hives and rashes;

- dizziness and nausea;

- allocation of pink color (in very rare cases).

To use this medicine, you should carefully remove the candle from the package, pulling it by both edges. The procedure for insertion is performed in the supine position, it is recommended to hold it before going to bed, as the candle melts into the vagina and when there is a vertical position there is a risk of leakage.

Use this tool is necessary daily for three to five days. In chronic forms of the disease, treatment can last up to ten days. The period of childbearing and breastfeeding is not a reason for shortening the duration of therapy. It is not forbidden to use candles and during menstruation with severe symptoms of the disease. If the manifestation of the disease is not so obvious, it is better to wait until it ends, as the blood slightly reduces the duration of the presence of the drug in the vagina.
