Camphoric oil is extracted from the bark of trees growing in the tropics. It has found wide application in aromatherapy, cosmetics and medicine. Has a local-irritant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and analgesic effect. The drug contains a mixture of vegetable oil and camphor with 10% concentration. Use it for lotions and rubbing to reduce joint and muscle pain. Compresses containing camphor oil are often applied. In the ear it is used to reduce painful sensations. The drug has gained popularity due to its affordable cost and effectiveness of treatment. But how correctly to apply camphor oil in the ear with otitis? The drug is often prescribed by doctors, but there are some limitations and peculiarities in its use.

In what cases is it not recommended to use camphor oil in your ear

The drug has excellent healing properties, but there are contraindications, in which camphor oil should not be used. It is not recommended to apply it:

1. Women in pregnancy.
2. To small children till the age of two. Couples medications are quickly absorbed through the mucous membrane, so the child may develop an intoxication of the body from the drug.
3. If there is an allergic reaction to the drug or an individual intolerance.
4. With the following diseases: aneurysm, epilepsy, endocarditis.
5. With poor lactation in women.

Do not use camphor oil in the ear for skin lesions, if there is a wound, an abrasion or a scratch. This list is incomplete, therefore before using it is necessary to read the instructions to the preparation.

Preparing the compress

Way of preparation of a lotion: camphor oil should be heated on a water bath so that it was warm. Then you need to moisten a piece of cotton cloth or gauze in the medicine. Now you can start to make a compress. To do this, the fabric is placed on the ear in such a way that the ear canal is not closed. The procedure ends by applying polyethylene or wax paper and fixing the compress with bandage and cotton wool. It is allowed to use camphor alcohol instead of oil. In this case, it is necessary to tightly apply the dressing, so that the rapid evaporation of the medicine does not occur. The compress can be kept no more than two hours. After this time, it is necessary to remove the lotion containing camphor oil. Ear should be wrapped in a warm scarf or a soft dry cloth.

Despite the popularity of the use of this product, it is impossible to instill camphor oil in otitis. The ears may be burned in the area of the auditory canal. This happens because the camomile crystals get onto the tympanic membrane, which can also lead to inflammation. To remove the unpleasant sensations in otitis, it is necessary to drip a few drops of camphor oil on dry cotton wool and insert it into the ear canal. The drug is more effective if it is correctly applied and do not overdo it in dosage.
