Building materials: tile glue for outdoor works

When choosing ceramic tiles, we first of all take into account the field of application. But what about the accompanying materials? This article will talk about how to choose tile glue for outdoor works. But first, let's look at the types of this material and what the feature is.

Twenty-five or thirty years ago, basically laying tiles occurred on ordinary cement mortar. Currently, no one is surprised that the tile adhesive for outdoor and indoor work is very different. This is due to the different degree of adhesion of the material to the surface, resistance to external influences and so on. And, of course, the price for such tile adhesives is significantly different.

So what is the advantage of such a material? First, because of its adhesive properties, it is much better than conventional cement. This means that over time, under the influence of external conditions will not form internal cracks, as well as peeling off the surface. Secondly, special tile adhesive for outdoor work is characterized by increased moisture resistance. In addition to the facade cladding, such material is used for gluing mosaics in swimming pools. It is also suitable for laying ceramic granite on terraces, paths and other surfaces outside the building. It should be noted that the tile adhesive for outdoor works is suitable not only for facing brick, aerated concrete or concrete treated with plaster, but also for plasterboard surfaces. Finally, the third advantage of this tool is frost resistance. In other words, with a sharp temperature drop, there will be no internal stress, because of which later even such a stable material as porcelain stoneware simply tears.

Tile adhesives for outdoor work are prepared in the same way as for internal glues. The exact proportions and accompanying substances are indicated on the package. For example, take the tile glue "Yunis plus." The instructions detail how to prepare it. So, take the container, into which we pour a dry adhesive mixture, then add water at the rate of 330 ml per 1 kg of glue. Using a construction mixer (or special nozzle on a conventional drill), mix. After getting a homogeneous mass, let it brew for about fifteen minutes. Mix again. After that, the tile adhesive for outdoor work is ready for use.

When working with this substance, you must follow the safety precautions. Namely, in no case, it is impossible for the glue to get into the eyes or on the mucous membrane. To do this, store rubber gloves and special protective goggles. If contact occurs with the skin, immediately wash it thoroughly with water. In case of an allergic reaction, it is recommended to consult a doctor.

In conclusion, it should be said that, no matter what the quality of the tiles you have chosen, the long term of its service largely depends on the good styling and properly selected accompanying materials.
