Black Yar - a beautiful village in Russia

There is a small village in Russia with an interesting history. This is Black Yar. Today we will talk about it.

History

The village of Black Yar (Astrakhan region) is located on one of the banks of the Lower Volga. It was founded approximately in the middle of the seventeenth century. Then the fortress was built Black Prison, which later had to be moved because of the collapse of the river bank. The fortress was renamed Chernoyarsky.

Here there was a battle of Stepan Razin with the insurgents, not far from this place the rebels fought together with Emelian Pugachev for the last time . Soon the village was completely burnt, but again it was rebuilt. And in the nineteenth century, the inhabitants were forced to move further away from the shore because of its considerable river washout.

By the end of the 19th century, a new fire broke out in Yar, as a result of which the center of the village burned down. After that, the buildings were built of bricks (benches, shops, bakeries and mansions). Black Yar developed and received the status of the city, but was later stripped of it. And again in 1925 he became a village.

Title History

The very name Black Yar consists of two words: Russian "black" and Turkic "yar" (high bank, which is washed by the river). There is also a legend about the origin of such a name. Once the Astrakhan prince who drove along the Volga river stopped in the places where the village is now. The prince went ashore and saw the most beautiful places. And the shore was so steep and so high that the river water seemed dark, almost black. The prince decided that people would live in this place. And he called the place Black Yar.

There are other legends, but it is noteworthy that the word "black" in what was then Russia called everything strange, incomprehensible and mysterious. This word was associated with sorcerers and witches, in which the villagers believe even now.

Note to tourists

Some well-known names are associated with the village of Cherniy Yar. For example, the People's Artist of Russia singer Nadezhda Babkina was born in this village. Here stayed Nikolai Gavrilovich Chernyshevsky and a traveler on the Volga writer Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky.

On the river bank, under the cliff, bones of the ancient bison and mammoth were found, and later they collected a whole skeleton, which is stored in the Astrakhan Museum. In Black Yar has its own branch of the museum, which will tell about the history of the emergence of the village and the lives of residents during the Great Patriotic War.

But Black Yar is not only called a village. In the Orenburg region there is a recreation center "Black Yar". On its territory there are comfortable houses, a comfortable beach and summerhouses for recreation near the river, as well as a sauna and a children's "town".
