Little-known facts about Nevskaya Dubrovka

Dubrovka is a city-type settlement of the Vsevolzhsky district (Leningrad region) since 1927, a local administrative center. On the shore there is a pier.

The first mention of Dubrovy on the Neva River of the Orekhovo Uyezd was discovered around 1500, and in the 17th century the village was already mapped. In those years the inhabitants of Dubrovy were very few: about 80 souls of male and female population.

Already at the end of the XIX century, the number of Dubrovka grew so that it began to be called a uyezd city and divided into two parts: the Upper and Lower. This area was in the possession of NA. Mordvinova. At the beginning of the 20th century, the village was named Nevskaya Dubrovka, in order to show the significant role of the river in the life of this place. A sawmill was opened here, paper was produced, and a zemstvo school was opened.

In the years of Soviet power Nevskaya Dubrovka becomes an urban type and reaches a peak of its population - more than 9,500 people.

Before the Great Patriotic War on the map two micro districts are already designated: Nevskaya Dubrovka and Novyi Settlek.

The role of the Nevskaya Dubrovka in the Leningrad blockade

During the war years in this long-suffering place were located two hospitals: an evacuation and a mobile field, as well as an evacuation receiver.

Enemy troops in September 1941 almost closed the occupation ring around Leningrad. There was only one small section on the left bank of the Neva opposite Dubrovka, which later became known as the Nevsky Piglet. A lot of blood was shed for this place of the only crossing, but on September 20 our bridgehead was. Until January 1943, until the overland pass was taken, the Nevsky Piglet remained a tiny strip of land, with which there were huge hopes for the release of the 3 million unhappy inhabitants of the besieged Leningrad.

You can indicate the number of deaths in a numerical equivalent or write "very, very much," but this will not convey the horrors of battles and blood shed by our ancestors. He will not hand over what was happening in besieged Leningrad: crumbs of bread in weight of gold, the corpses of adults and children on the streets of the city, cases of cannibalism ... The role of Nevskaya Dubrovka and Nevsky Piglet is fully understood only by the few remaining who participated in the battles or survived the blockade .
