Biography of the Brothers Grimm - not a fairy tale story of fairy-tale writers

How, sometimes, I want to go back to childhood. To carefree play on the street with friends, climb trees, tell terrible stories, hide in the closet, and read your favorite children's works. However, in order to read tales, you do not need to rewind time. This genre of works is loved by both adults and children. A special place among storytelling writers is occupied by the famous Brothers Grimm. Biography of science writers, unlike their creations, can not boast of unexpected twists.

Childhood

The biography of the Brothers Grimm originates in Germany, in the city of Hanau am Main. The first of the duo was born Jakob. His birthday is dated 4.01.1785. A year later, a month and twenty days into the world came his brother - Wilhelm. We can say that since then the boys have become inseparable: their friendship was uninterrupted until death. The brothers' family belonged to the middle stratum of the population of Germany. Their father served as a lawyer. It is worth noting that the brothers complemented each other: Jacob was strong, courageous and very hardy. While Wilhelm did not differ strong health.

Ten years after the birth of the second brother, their father died, leaving his wife and children in a very difficult financial situation. They were able to survive and receive education from their maternal side. The student biography of the Grimm brothers is a description of the brilliant successes of the young men in the teaching process. They were the best in the Kassel lyceum. After his graduation, the brothers were admitted to the University of Marburg. There they planned to undergo training in the legal sciences, in order to follow in the footsteps of their father. In parallel with the lessons at the university, the children at leisure enjoyed themselves in reading books: German and foreign.

Literature in the life of the Brothers Grimm

In 1803, the biography of the Brothers Grimm changes the course of his narrative. The turning point is the publication of "Minnesinger Songs" by the then popular romantic Tika. The foreword to this work was magically influenced the consciousness of the youth information about the folklore of Germany. The Brothers Grimm immediately understood their true destiny - they were sent to this world in order to devote themselves to literature and science.

The first and last time the brothers broke up in 1805, when Jacob had to visit Paris on a scientific visit. After that, they were always together: they shared shelter and food. From 1805 to 1809, the elder brother worked in Wilhelmsgeg as a librarian and statistician. Shortly after the end of the war with France, Jacob was instructed to go to Paris to return copies of the books taken away by the French.

In 1812 they publish a collection of "Children's and family fairy tales", thanks to which their name became known to millions of children and adults throughout the world. Jacob was predicted a diplomatic career, but this did not cause any of the brothers even a little bit of enthusiasm. They choose a service in the library of Kassel, and in 1816 Jakob joins Wilhelm, who has already worked in the library for two years.

The next four years they devoted to scientific research. In 1825, the biography of the Brothers Grimm supplemented his pages with a description of an important event in Wilhelm's life: he was getting married.

Future life

Four years later, the authorities in Kassel's library are changing their bosses. Those who disagree with the personnel reshuffles, Jacob and Wilhelm, resign. By that time they had gained wide popularity in the scientific world thanks to their works. Jacob is invited as a professor of German literature and a senior librarian at the University of GцTttingen. Wilhelm is also accommodated in this institution.

After a while, both brothers were dismissed because of political charges against the new Hanoverian king. They returned to Kassel. This event occurred in 1837. Three years later Friedrich-Wilhelm of Prussia, who ascended the German throne, chose the Grimm brothers as members of the famous Berlin Academy of Sciences. This gave them the opportunity to conduct lectures at the best educational institution in the country - the University of Berlin. They lived the rest of their lives in the capital of Germany . Wilhelm died in 1859 on December 16. His elder brother lived for four more years and died on September 20, 1863.

Numerous works devoted to philology, more than two hundred tales and a huge role in the research of German folklore are an asset left by the talented brothers Grimm. The biography - a short or long history of their biography - can not fully reflect the efforts that Jacob and Wilhelm put in so that they will be remembered in the centuries as the "forefathers of German literature", the authors of Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel and many other stunning stories.
