This author is familiar to any reading person. On children's holidays, it sounds unchanged: "Do not you dare forget the teachers!". On corporate parties dedicated to March 8, men are inspired to quote: "There are no women unloved - there are unsettled ...". And from the radio receivers we are caught up with the lines of famous songs: "Forgive me, my love, for someone else's evil ...", "Apples on the snow - pink on white, what shall we do with them - with apples in the snow?", "I draw, I I draw you, I paint you sitting at the window ... ". All these poems were written by Andrey Dmitrievich Dementiev, whose biography is little known to a wide circle of his readers.

However, in the poetry of the author, as in a mirror, the main milestones of his creative path are reflected. Where without it? It is events and meetings that happened in life, experiences and joys that have fallen to the lot, and make up the source from which the lyrics are born.

The city is rich in famous countrymen, however, from poets whose homeland is the former Kalinin, one can perhaps mention only the "king of Russian chanson" Mikhail Krug. So Tver is rightfully proud of Dementiev, who is her honorary citizen. Andrei Dmitrievich remembers with warmth his parents - Maria Grigorievna and Dmitry Nikitich, a wooden house with a mezzanine, the Volga, where local boys swam and rowed in the summer, and skated and skied in the winter.

In 1936, the future poet went to school, so that his "universities" fell on hard military times. In the classes there were cards with red and blue flags, demonstrating the advance of troops on the fronts. Lessons began with the Sovinformburo reports. The father was arrested on the infamous 58th article, and Dementieva was brought up by her mother. Sometimes it was so hard to live that in his teens he almost lost his life.

Having graduated from the writing institute, the young man returned to Tver. He worked in the agricultural department of the Kalininskaya Pravda, then in the regional newspaper Smena, and wrote poems at night. The first poem of the poet was published in 1948 here, in Tver. In his native city, the first five books of the author were published, which appeared from 1955 to 1963. In 1959, Dementiev became a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR.

However, real poetry, a stormy creative life was in Moscow, and Andrei Dmitrievich was eager to go there with all his heart. Even in the Literary Institute, the poet joined the party. In 1967 he received the post of instructor of the propaganda and agitation department in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Komsomol in the capital. Creative, "uncombed" personality was difficult to get used to life by bureaucratic laws. But it was in the Central Committee that a real male fraternity was present, temper was tempered here.

Moscow did not break Dementiev. He worked for several years in the publishing house "Young Guard". And in 1972 a completely amazing era began. Dementiev first becomes deputy editor-in-chief, and then editor-in-chief of the legendary magazine "Youth". He worked for 21 years in this edition, typing Vasilyev and Alexin, Voznesensky and Yevtushenko. The circulation of the magazine at Dementiev reached more than 3 million copies.

In the 90 years the poet was in Israel, where he worked for several years as head of the Middle East representative office of the RTR. Later he worked on radio and television. More than once he was fired from his job: then for publishing unwanted poems, then for preparing an acute political program. All this time the author's books came out, songs appeared on his poems.
