The automatic device SR3 "Whirlwind", created about 20 years ago, still has no analogues and direct competitors. According to the professionals, none of the weapons in the world are able to replace him. It differs from its brethren in the first place in small dimensions, which is quite unencumbered by weight and yet retains all the advantages of a serious combat weapon. According to the idea of gunsmiths, "Whirlwind" is primarily intended for counterterrorism units and security agencies.

History of creation

The automatic device SR3 "Whirlwind" was developed in Krym's Central Research Institute "TochMash" back in 1994. Supervised by the project designers A. D. Borisov and V. N. Levchenko. The index "SR" means that the weapon belongs to "special developments". Later, another design engineer, AI Tashlykov, joined the team, under the guidance of which in 1996 the new automatic was launched into batch production. At the heart of the development is the previously created silent automatic machine AS "Val", with which "Whirlwind" is completely unified for the main details, which greatly facilitates the production and operation of both types of weapons.

Subsequently, the development and experiments were continued, and after the upgrade was launched production of a new version of these weapons. So there was a vending machine "Vortex" SR-3M, combining the advantages of CP-3, AS, BCC. So far, there is no weapon like this in the world. And all thanks to the tandem of small-sized and super-powerful ammunition.

Cartridge and killing force

Nine-millimeter cartridge has a unique stopping power, punching at short distances, almost any bulletproof vest. It can be confidently said that the enemy will be struck on the spot by the first shot. Even if the opponent is dressed in a 5th class armor and is at a distance of several tens of meters, a shot from the "Whirlwind" will stop and neutralize it. The armor plates will take a shattering energy shot, but do not extinguish it. Such a blow can result in serious internal injuries, up to the ruptures of internal organs and fractures of bones. Professionals in such cases say that sometimes a bullet pierced by a bullet is preferable to getting into the waistcoat plate.

In shortened submachine guns, the SP5 and SPb cartridges with heavy bullets with initial subsonic speed proved to be very useful. They had a low recoil momentum. The combination of these indicators allowed designers to create weapons that are comparable in size to their size with pistol-machine guns, while significantly exceeding the latter in terms of firepower and killer power. The "Vortex" cartridge, in comparison with the usual one, gives a reduced sound pressure and has a lesser propensity to rebound. This makes it possible to fire in tight enclosed spaces. For shooting from the "Vortex" special armor-piercing cartridges 9x39 mm are used, which allow successfully hitting the opponent in fifth-class body armor at a distance of up to 50 m, the fourth class - up to 120 m, the third class - up to 200 m, the second class - up to 300 m.

Box-type stores were borrowed from the predecessors and initially contained 20 cartridges. For the version of the CP-3M was developed a store designed for 30 rounds.

The design is almost the same as the "Shaft". The trigger-trigger mechanism makes it possible to use the shooting mode with queues and single ones. Unlike many brethren, the compact automatic device SR 3 "Vortex" is equipped with an autonomous fuse, separated from the fire mode switch. The fuse on the receiver surface is located. A button-type translator is behind the trigger. The possibility of using a silencer is not provided.

The steel butt can be folded up and out. The fore and handle are made of impact-resistant plastic.

Automatic SR3 "Vortex" has a gas engine. The long stroke of the gas piston is rigidly connected to the gate frame. In this case, the channel is locked by turning the shutter, which has 6 warheads. There are no openings for the output of powder gases on the barrel of the machine. The barrel of the machine has a compensator-flame arrestor. Cuttings of the trunk are made in a special way - they have a variable steepness. This ensures stability of the bullet in flight and high accuracy of fire. On the handle there are special thickenings, designed to prevent the fighter's hand from moving forward to the muzzle.

Tactical and technical characteristics

The new automatic device СР3 "Whirlwind" without cartridges in the store weighs only 2 kilograms. The length of the weapon with the folded butt is 39.5 cm, the developed butt lengthens it to 64 centimeters. The bullet takes off from the "Vortex" at a speed of 290 m / s and is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to half a kilometer. At the same time, professionals note a good gunsmallness, even if you shoot from it during raids. Taking into account the time required to replace the horns, in a fight from the "Whirlwind" can be done from 40 to 60 rounds per minute.

Purpose

Automatic SR 3 "Whirlwind", due to its small size, can be used for concealed wearing. It can be conveniently placed even under the jacket. In some cases, this advantage is simply invaluable. In addition, the automatic device SR3 "Whirlwind" can be placed in a small-sized case that does not attract special attention. First of all, both versions are of interest for services dealing with the fight against terrorism, the protection of public figures, and the conduct of special operations. In addition, these weapons can be used for personal self-defense of servicemen.
