How to motivate a child to read? Tips for parents

Some children reasonably believe that summer is not a time to read. For them, this sunny season is a period for fun, boundless rest and walks with friends. What should parents do if their favorite child is not very interested in the list of literature for the summer?

Morozova Victoria Emilievna, the teacher of the Moscow school, gives a number of tips to which parents of unread children should listen:

  1. Explain to the child the value of reading books. Give positive examples of the influence of your reading on your own life. If you do not have personal examples in the arsenal, refer to the biographies of famous personalities who are authoritative for your child.
  2. Children tend to imitate. Show a positive example: read, write out quotations, tell interested moments to publicly hear the household.
  3. Preheat interest, motivate. Show how interesting it is for you to read, how much fun you are experiencing from this process.
  4. Hang a list of literature above the child's desk, where, along with him, you will celebrate successes in his conquest.
  5. Create a corner in the house that motivates you to read: a comfortable chair, shelves, writing materials.
  6. Look at the films made from the book with him and suggest to find the differences between the original and the cinovariate.

From ourselves we can add: if your child does not burn with a desire to immerse himself in school literature, but read books that do not affect the educational process, do not interfere with it: it's better than to refuse to immerse in the world of the word altogether.
