The first thing that the user starts interacting with is application programs. Examples can be found on each computer. They are an indispensable tool for the work or entertainment of a person. Naturally, applications are not designed to create other utilities or, for example, to maintain the system's disks. They are something else.

Each program of the character in question is oriented towards the application of computer technology in various fields of activity. It simplifies any kind of work. In fact, all application programs can be divided into several categories:

- Text editors. It is clear that here there is a viewing, typing or editing of printed text.

- Word processors. A more functional program, unlike the previous one, because it has all those functions, and also allows you to use text files, for example, pictures, tables or photos when working with text. However, if the text editors are easily combined with each other, the processors are not, because they write information in different ways, and do not have pure text. The main example is MS Word, but there are others.

- Publishing systems. Based on the name, you can understand that they are used to combine the common text and graphic drawings into layout, ready for printing on magazines or in newspapers. A common example is Adobe PageMaker.

- Graphical editors. Simple programs that work on the principle of text editors, but only with graphics. Most of them are not designed to create pictures, they are focused mainly on editing (Paint), but there are also more professional versions (Adobe RhotoShop).

On the one hand, this approach is quite convenient, but on the other hand, more advanced users often do not work within only one resource base. They select from all the convenient for themselves. The creation of packages implies the uniformity of programs, their similar interface allows you to quickly understand the principle of each product. Therefore, if the user is a novice, then it is recommended that he choose the package that he will be able to replace later. In addition, when using a single database, it is much more convenient to work with several components simultaneously, since incompatibility is excluded here.

Application programs are used by everyone, from a student who needs to write an abstract or a report, to a professional designer. That is why acquaintance with the potential of these developments should be started as early as possible.
