Which one to choose glue for a stone. How to glue decorative stone

Improve the appearance of the interior can be a variety of ways, but the decoration of walls with artificial or natural stone can be exactly the "highlight" that will give luxury and comfort to the room. In this case, do not think that this type of repair is too laborious - this is a mistaken opinion. It is enough to stock up time and desire, to take the right tools and choose the right glue for the stone in order to radically transform the room.

Necessary materials

There are several principles of laying decorative stone. They depend on the list of materials and tools needed for repair. During the work you will need:

  • A pencil, a tape measure, a conventional and notched trowel, and also a level;
  • Stool and hacksaw;
  • To create the effect of uneven edges of the masonry - a flat file;
  • When imitating masonry from stone blocks or bricks - barking crosses;
  • Foam and sponge;
  • A construction mixer and a rubber hammer;
  • A container for preparation of glue (from a dry mix);
  • Confectionery bag or syringe for filling joints.

In a set with a decorative stone it is necessary to get a paint and a spreading mix, most suitable for color, after all they will be filled with seams. It will also require a primer suitable for the characteristics of the material, acrylic impregnation for gypsum or colorless varnish.

Choose the glue for the stone

Especially carefully should be approached to those mixtures or solutions that are responsible for the strength of the installation. After all, first of all, it depends on how long the repair will preserve its original appearance. It is clear that the adhesive for natural stone, however, as well as artificial, too, must be selected special, because this material is quite heavy. Put, of course, you can and on cement mortar, but the question is, how much will this glue hold. It is better to purchase a special glue for the stone, which is sold both in dry form and ready-to-use solution. Also suitable is a universal mixture of "Crazy Velcro", made on acrylic basis. Thanks to it, it is possible to reliably fix gypsum tiles to any surface.

Preparation for work

You can decorate with decorative stone any interior details, including corners and arches. At the same time, the effect of an uneven surface looks very beautiful. If you want to achieve this result, then before you glue the decorative stone, it is better to lay the tile on the floor for clarity. This will help to fit each other elements with different thicknesses, and also to approximate the final result in the mind. Particular attention should be paid to the extreme components. They need to be cut through one hacksaw, which will ensure a shift of seams in different rows of masonry. If there is a desire to create "torn" edges of the stone, then you should use the file. Carefully remove the plaster material, not forgetting after that to clean the tile from the dust and paint it in the tone of the stone.

Tiles, which will lie on the outer corners of the structure, must be prepared. To do this, take stus and hacksaw and with their help cut one of the inner protrusions of the element at an angle of 45 degrees. Thanks to these techniques, a beautiful corner is formed. Also do not forget to fit the tiles along the length.

Surface preparation

Before you glue the stone on the wall, it should be brought to an even state. This can be done with the help of putty or plaster, and lining the surface with OSB boards or plasterboard. When laying a heavy natural stone, it is better to reinforce the wall with a metal mesh - this will increase the bonding strength, which will significantly extend the life of such repairs. If the stone falls on a tree or structures subjected to vibration loads, the installation should be carried out on elastic acrylic glue - this will prevent cracking of the masonry.

Mounting the stone on the wall

If a dry installation mix is used, it is worth remembering that the glue for natural stone, like for gypsum materials, very quickly freezes, so it needs to be kneaded in small portions. Accurately observe the instruction for mixing, namely: the proportions, the sequence of actions, the water temperature - this will maximize the reliability of the glue. To create a level masonry, perform the level markup. The stone is mounted from the bottom up, with the first row strictly horizontal. The technology of laying practically does not differ from facing by tile.

Bonding the elements

An even layer on the surface is applied glue for stone on a gypsum base. The tile is tightly pressed against the wall and you can tap it gently with a rubber hammer for better grip. If there are excess glues, they should be quickly removed with a foam sponge. If an adhesive is chosen for an artificial stone on an acrylic base, then the technology of its application is slightly different. Using a notched trowel, the mixture is applied directly to the surface of the tile, which is then pressed against the wall.

You can glue the decorative stone as close as possible, or with the use of crochets. But in the second case it is necessary to fill the seams with gypsum glue using a confectionery bag or syringe. If necessary, stitches should be painted with a fine brush in the tone of the stone.

It remains only to correct the scratches, if they appeared somewhere. This can be done with a paint suitable for the color of the tiles. The final touch will be the application of a colorless varnish or a special acrylic product that will enhance the attractiveness of the clutch, as well as increase moisture resistance and resistance to abrasion.
