Antibiotic "Glevo". Instructions for use

The drug "Glevo" belongs to the group of so-called fluoroquinolones. These are antibacterial substances that have a pronounced antimicrobial activity and have a wide spectrum of action. The main active substance of this drug is levofloxacin. It is capable of blocking DNA-gyrase (an enzyme that can introduce negative super-twigs into the closed DNA molecule), violate supercoiling and suppress DNA synthesis, and cause significant changes in the structure of microorganisms.

Diseases that are caused by bacteria and microorganisms sensitive to the drug "Glevo", the instruction for use determines as an indication for the appointment. These can include diseases of ENT organs (for example, acute sinusitis), kidney and urinary tract (both complicated and uncomplicated infections, such as acute pyelonephritis), lower respiratory tract (community-acquired pneumonia, acute chronic bronchitis).

Also, this drug is indicated for prostatitis and other infectious diseases of the genitals, diseases of soft tissues and skin (for example, abscess, festering atheromas, furunculosis). In intra-abdominal (in other words, intra-abdominal) infections, the antibiotic "Glevo" is used in combination with drugs that affect the anaerobic microflora.

The drug "Glevo" in the form of tablets of 250 and 500 mg is produced. During the intake the product is quickly absorbed, and the intake of food has almost no effect on the completeness and rate of dissolution of the drug "Glevo". Instructions for use show that the antibiotic penetrates well into tissues and organs. In the treatment, a small part of the drug can oxidize. The medicine is excreted from the body mainly by the kidneys.

The drug has many side effects from different body systems. So, on the part of the digestive system, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, decreased appetite and digestive disorders, increased activity of liver transaminases, hepatitis, hyperbilirubinemia, dysbacteriosis, appetite-pittingembranous enterocolitis.

In the cardiovascular system, the following disorders are possible: vascular collapse, lowering of arterial pressure, prolongation of the QT interval (electric heart systole) - at the same time, the risk of developing rhythm disturbances, tachycardia, and in rare cases, atrial fibrillation.

In the endocrine system during the reception of the antibiotic "Glevo" instructions for use suggests the following side effects - hypoglycemia, nervousness, increased sweating, increased appetite.

From the nervous system - both central and peripheral - dizziness and headache, weakness, sleep disturbances, anxiety and fear, hallucinations, depression, epileptic seizures are possible . On sensory organs, this drug is also able to influence - there may be hearing, vision, tactile, taste and olfactory sensations.

For the musculoskeletal system during treatment with the drug "Glevo", the instructions for use describe the following negative effects: muscle weakness, arthralgia, myalgia, tendonitis (tendon inflammation), tendon rupture. Hypercreatininaemia, acute renal failure, interstitial nephritis are side effects from the urinary system.

In the hemopoietic system, such abnormalities as hemolytic anemia, eosinophilia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, neutropenia, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia with the use of the antibiotic "Glevo" may appear. The instruction also indicates the possibility of the appearance of allergic reactions, exacerbation of porphyria, the development of superinfection, the emergence of persistent fever.

Among the contraindications - sensitivity to the components of the drug, epilepsy, pregnancy and lactation, age below 18 children, tendon damage with earlier treatment with antibiotics.

With caution, this drug should be used in elderly patients and those with a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. The appearance of a large number of side effects should not take the drug "Glevo" independently, without consulting with a doctor in advance.
