Atheroma suppuration: causes, symptoms, treatment

Atheroma is an education that belongs to a number of benign. As a rule, it has a rounded shape, protruding above the surface of the skin, inside it is a capsule filled with a thick liquid of yellowish color. If, with pressure from the atheroma, a liquid with a sharp unpleasant odor is released, and the neoplasm itself, as well as the area around it, are painful on palpation, it can be safely said that before us - an atheroma is suppurated.

By itself, without a purulent process, this site is painless, with dimensions from a few millimeters to a very impressive size. Education is localized in any part of the body: there may be atheromas on the face, neck, genitals, or even an atheroma, which is suppurated on the back.

Outwardly, it practically does not differ from other forms of neoplasms: hygromas, lipomas, fibromas.

Causes of suppuration

By itself, it does not bring to the "owner" any concern, except for cosmetic inconveniences, in particular when it is located on the face or open areas of the body.

Danger to health atheroma festering carries a large. The reason for the occurrence may be the following factors:

  1. Launched form of the disease.
  2. As a complication after a previous operation (the result of its poor-quality conduct).
  3. The infectious infection in the open wound canal both the atheroma itself and the area around it.

Symptoms of the disease

When suppuration is characterized by the appearance of the following symptoms:

  1. Sharp pain.
  2. Swelling in the neoplasm.
  3. Hyperemic skin around the atheroma.
  4. Raise body temperature.
  5. Increase neoplasm in size.
  6. General malaise.
  7. Increase in the nearest from the atheroma lymph nodes.

The process of suppuration is preceded by the entry of bacteria under the capsule of formation, resulting in the development of an abscess, which is because the substrate contained in it is an excellent nutrient medium for the development of pathological microorganisms. As a result, the fluid degenerates into pus. There are also cases of an independent outflow from the atheroma of a purulent substrate, but it also happens that it does not find outflow and remains inside the capsule or spreads under the skin.

What is the danger of the neoplasm?

Many people do not even suspect the existence of this tumor, living with it for many years. But as a result of a small trauma of the skin near the formation, pathogenic microorganisms enter the bloodstream. The inflammatory process begins to progress, which, in turn, can lead to the following consequences:

  1. Abscess of soft tissues and organs.
  2. Phlegmon.
  3. A thrombus formation that can cause death.

The conclusion is simple: atheroma festering is dangerous, therefore, it should be disposed of as soon as possible, but first of all it is necessary to eliminate the inflammatory process. Yes, of course, there are cases when it may require urgent removal due to danger to life, but such cases are extremely rare. In most cases, the doctor at the time of the diagnosis of "atheroma suppurant" treatment with antibiotics appoints immediately: they are necessary to remove the focus of inflammation. Only after its elimination, surgical intervention can be prescribed. Therefore, it is best to get rid of the neoplasm at the earliest stage. The list of the main antibiotics that are used in the disease:

  1. "Azithromycin".
  2. "Doxycycline hydrochloride".
  3. "Sumamed".
  4. "Lincomycin".

What to do if suppuration

The presence on the body of atheroma requires special attention. This is necessary in order to avoid more serious complications.

But if it still happens, you need to take the following measures:

  1. Before going to the doctor, you must impose a sterile cotton-gauze dressing.
  2. If the temperature rises and the general condition worsens, call for an ambulance.
  3. Do not try to open the hearth of suppuration by yourself.
  4. Strictly follow the prescribing doctor's instructions.

Remember: all attempts to get rid of the disease are themselves dangerous and can lead to serious health problems or threaten your life. If you have an overheated atheroma, treatment with ointments is prescribed only by a specialist. In most cases, prescribe Vishnevsky ointments, "Levomikol", ichthyol.

Diagnosis of the disease

The purpose of accurate diagnosis is to exclude the presence of malignant neoplasm. For this purpose, the attending physician prescribes histological and morphological studies. Based on the results, an accurate diagnosis is made.

In addition, the surgeon can determine atheroma and by external signs at a direct examination of the patient:

  • Black point (filled with fatty secretion) on the surface of the atheroma;
  • Absence of painful sensations during palpation;
  • Presence of clear edges.

Frequent cases of multiple appearances by atheros are called atheromatosis and require complex treatment.

Treatment of neoplasm

Atheroma suppuration requires only surgical treatment, as a result of which it is removed completely. This happens in two stages:

  1. The first involves the complete removal of festering contents.
  2. In the second stage, the neoplasm itself is removed together with the canal, as a result of which no more atherosome will appear on this part of the body.

During the surgical procedure, the doctor performs the following manipulations:

  • Autopsy;
  • Cleaning, as a result of which all the contents of the tumor are removed;
  • Washing the wound channel with an antiseptic solution;
  • Installation of a special tube for outflow from the wound and its unimpeded lavage;
  • After removing the insert, a dressing is applied with antiseptic agents.

Summarizing, it should be noted that you can not leave this disease without attention. The earlier the treatment is started, the less likely the development of complications.
