Anthurium: transplantation at home and care

The homeland of the anthurium - the most beautiful unusual houseplant - is the tropical rainforest of America. This determines the ways of preparing the soil during its transplantation, as well as the technique of caring for this flower. The plant is not too capricious, easily tolerating shade and even lack of watering. However, certain rules should be observed when growing it.

general description

Anthuriums belong to the genus Aroids, a characteristic feature of which is a long inflorescence, wrapped in a brightly colored leaf. In nature, there is simply a huge number of species of this plant. Most of them are epiphytes, that is, they grow high on trees. In the room, two kinds of anthuriums are usually grown:

  • Andre. It is a very beautiful species with straight long inflorescences, wrapped in a leaf of bright red or rich pink color.
  • Scherzer. Inflorescences in this species are also very long, but at the ends are bent into a beautiful spectacular spiral. The wrapping sheet from the sheet has a bright orange color.

Both varieties of domestic anthuriums are not epiphytes, but growing conditions require similar ones. Therefore, the soil, performing a procedure such as transplanting anthurium in the home, it is necessary to prepare a special one. About which one, we'll talk just below.

Rules for transplanting anthuriums

The flower bought in the store must be transferred to another pot. The fact is that usually exotic indoor flowers are brought to our country from Holland in the so-called transportation ground. For good development and abundant flowering, it does not fit well.

Therefore, only after carrying in suitable soil it will be possible to obtain a spectacular beautiful anturium. The transplantation at home is done in a larger pot, wide and not too tall. The roots of this plant are superficial, and therefore they do not need too much soil. But the area of the ground must be considerable. If the pot is too small and the roots fill it to the walls, the plant will cease to bloom.

Anthurium, transplantation at home (in what pot, we found out) which can be produced, including, and during flowering - the plant is quite hardy. Transfer it to another, larger in size capacity is allowed and in the winter. However, in this case, the so-called transfer to the pot, filled with very loose soil, is usually performed without releasing the roots from the ground. A flowering plant from spring to autumn can be transplanted in the usual way.

What should be the soil

Ground anturoumy like slightly sour, well absorbent moisture. The usual mixture for indoor flowers from the store is not suitable for them. In a neutral ground it is simply impossible to get a beautiful anthurium. Transplantation at home is done in store, but acidified soil. The easiest way is to buy the crushed pine bark and mix it into the ground. By turning it down, it will saturate the soil with organic substances, while acidifying it. You can also add sphagnum or perlite to the soil.

Anthurium: home transplantation

Once a suitable pot is found, and a slightly acidic soil is ready, you can proceed with actually carrying the plant. Transplantation of young anthuriums is done once a year, adults - once every two years. The plant is carefully removed from the old pot and releases the roots from the ground. The last operation should be carried out especially gently. The roots of the anthuriums are very tender, and they are easily damaged. After the earth is removed, they should be carefully inspected. Rotten rootlets are removed, and the place of the cut is sprinkled with coal.

How can I transfer the anthurium prepared in this way? Transplantation at home (reviews about the unpretentiousness of this plant are abundant, and therefore to be afraid of this procedure is not necessary) is made only in a pot with a drain installed on its bottom. Anthurium plant tropical and moisture loves. However, its roots can not stand the stagnation of water. As a drain, you can use broken petioles or ordinary expanded clay. The layer of the material passing the water should be about 1/3 of the capacity. The pot is filled with earth a little and the anthurium is placed in it in an upright position. Next, the container falls asleep almost to the brim, also trying not to damage the roots.

Here such way and it is possible to arrange the suitable environment for roots of such plant, as an anturium. Transplantation at home - the procedure for it is not too traumatic (if, of course, it was performed correctly), but certain rules of care after it must still be observed. So, after carrying it for a while, you need to be careful when watering. Spray the plant for the next two weeks you need as often as possible. Do not allow direct contact with the plant and direct sunlight.

Where to put an anturium

Thus, the transplantation of anthurium at home after the store is mandatory. It is also important to choose the right plant and location for this.

Light these tropical plants like very bright, but diffuse. Therefore, in summer it is not recommended to set them on the windows facing the south side. Direct sunlight from the day will necessarily cause burns on the leaves. In the warmer months of the year it is better to put an anturium on the eastern window.

How to fertilize

Anthurium, care at home (transplantation with proper soil preparation makes it possible to obtain a beautiful spectacular plant) beyond which is simple, requires, however, periodic feeding. Fertilize these plants in the summer period once every two weeks. In this case, you can use such complex fertilizing as Uniflor-bud, Rainbow, Kemira Lux. Anthurium is very tender. Overabundance of fertilizers can easily cause a chemical burn. Therefore, apply ½ the recommended dose on the package. In winter, the number of fertilizing is reduced. Fertilize anthuriums in November and March can be no more than once every three weeks or even a month.

How to water?

The plant is quite hygrophilous - anthurium. Care at home (transplant, fertilizing, etc.) behind it is not too complicated. However, it is necessary to comply with the rules of irrigation. Humidify the soil under anthuriums need quite often. When growing, you should try to do so that the crust on the ground has time to dry out slightly. At the same time, the lower layers must remain moist. Despite the fact that the plant anthurium is tropical, with the stagnation of water its roots begin to rot. Drying of a coma this flower carries well.

What should be the humidity?

Can not tolerate anthurium and dryness indoors. The humidity in the room should not fall below 60%. Otherwise, the plants will dry out the leaves, and the flowers will lose their color. To increase the humidity commonly used wide pallets filled with small stones. They are flooded with water and a pot of anthurium is placed on top. In this case, the tank itself should not be lowered into the water. In this case, only evaporation is important. Anthurium, transplantation at home (the soil should be as loose and loose as possible), which is usually produced in plastic pots that conduct well the heat, the roots, as already mentioned, are very tender. Therefore, at least some way to touch their water should not. If desired, you can do without a pallet. However, in this case, the plant will have to spray very often (twice a day).

Air temperature

Like any other tropical plant, anthurium is very fond of heat. But too hot in the room should also not be. Just feel great this flower at a temperature of 18-20 g. In this case - with sufficient light - the anthurium will bloom abundantly and delight the eye with bright green foliage. The lower threshold of air temperature in the room in winter is 15 g.

As you can see, the plant is not particularly whimsical - the anthurium. Transplantation at home (with the photos available on the page, it will be easier to understand the procedure) is described in detail in the article. The operation is elementary, and even an inexperienced lover of indoor flowers can cope with it. It is very simple to take care of this plant.
