Analysis: Astafyev, Lyudochka. The problem of the work

In the magazine "New World", in the September issue for 1989, Astafiev ("Lyudochka") published his story. An analysis of this work is the subject of this article. The author's photo is presented below.

The problems of the story

This story is about youth, but in the heroes Astafiev created, there is no youth. All of them are lonely people, suffering somewhere deep in themselves and staggering around the world. When the main character of the work graduated from 9 classes and became a girl, her mother told her that Lyudochka would go to the city to settle down, since she had nothing to do in the village. The main idea of the story is to depict the girl's confused fate, which is clamped down by the economic framework (in order to somehow survive in the city, it was necessary to agree to any work), as well as the cruel customs of the city unacceptable for the village. The writer skillfully revealed the character of Lyudochka, as well as the moral problems of the modern generation, and analyzed them. Astafyev ("Lyudochka") was able to talk about many serious things, cause compassion and sympathy for the unfair fate of the main character.

Why did Lyuda kill herself?

Lyudochka, having arrived home, did not find even the mother of proper support, since she was preoccupied with her own problems. The main character was capable of a desperate act, resolute in herself, like all closed-minded people. She was always the first child to throw herself into the river. The determination of the protagonist is not characteristic of many young people of our time.

Sins of many took on Lyudochka: mother, Strekocha, Gavrilovna, school, youth town, the Soviet police. This is something with which Dostoevsky could not agree - atonement for those who do not understand and who are innocent of someone else's sins. A short life, monotonous, hopeless, indifferent, gray, without love and affection - the tragedy of a girl. Her death is her rise. Only after the death of Lyudochka suddenly needed his mother, Gavrilovna. She was finally noticed. The story of Astafiev is very touching, as the reader can feel how the author is kind-hearted and caring towards this girl.

The tragedy of the "little man"

The tragedy of the "little man" is revealed in this work. Astafyev continues in it one of the most favorite themes in Russian literature of the 19th century. The work describes the fate of one unfortunate village girl who came to seek happiness in the city, but came across the cruelty and indifference of people. Over Lyudochka scolded, but the worst thing is not this: people who she loved did not want to understand her. Therefore, the girl committed suicide, not finding any of them moral support.

The image of Lyudochka Astafyev created the following: this is an ordinary Russian girl, many of them. The main character did not differ from her childhood either intellectually or beautifully, but she retained in her soul respect for people, mercy, decency and kindness. This girl was weak-willed. That is why Gavrilovna, who sheltered her in the city, poured all his work on the house to Lyudochka. She did it with pleasure and did not take offense at her.

Language features in the story

Analysis of the work shows that there is a bright beginning in it, which brightens up many adversities. It comes from the hearts of numerous workers who are not translated in Russia. I remember the scene of haymaking, an episode where the main character together with her mother threw a stack, and then Lyudochka washed off her own rubble and dust from the dust in her own river, with joy led only by people who had worked well. The reception of contrast, which Astafyev has successfully applied here, emphasizes the spiritual closeness with the nature of man, which in a city steeped in poverty, the darkness of ignorance and total backwardness, can not be felt.

What is the attraction of the story "Lyudochka" Astafyev?

This story is attractive because the author in such a small amount of work could put a number of important problems before the reader. The writer depicted in a vivid artistic form pictures of the real life of many people. However, Astafiev's main task was probably to show us all about the abyss in which we are moving. And if you do not stop on time, humanity is threatened with complete degeneration. It is this thought that prompts the story "Lyudochka." Astafiev calls on us to think about the world around us and about our own souls, to try to change ourselves, to learn to sympathize with our neighbor and to love people, to see the beauty of this world and to try to preserve it. After all, beauty, as is known, will save the world.
