A new concept from Volkswagen is a self-managed minivan of the future

German automotive company Volkswagen has created a new concept of a minivan, outwardly similar to the famous "hippie" van. The car seemed to come from a sci-fi movie: it is equipped with an electric motor, has an autopilot function, as well as other interesting "gadgets."

A little about the novelty

Structurally, the new VW Microbus, or Buzz, is an eight-seater minivan with an electric motor with a travel range of up to 400 km without recharging. Due to high power, the charging of the lithium-ion battery of the car lasts approximately 30 minutes.

As a basis for creating the concept was taken a van of the 60s, which became cultic thanks to the hippies. Although due to the refusal of the gasoline engine this car would be even more suitable for this peaceful subculture.

The minibus is equipped with an on-board computer, internal and external cameras, laser, radar and ultrasonic sensors, as well as other technological innovations. Thanks to them it is possible to carry out individual adjustments of the air-conditioning system of the car, automatically place a driver's seat, audio system, ambient lighting and much more under a particular driver.

By analyzing road traffic with sensors and cameras, Buzz is able to put control into autopilot mode, allowing the driver to rest a little.

Another concept or a production car?

Despite the fact that the appearance of such an unusual minibus has made a lot of noise in the world press, it is still not known whether the concept will be launched into mass production. Recently Volkswagen often presents different versions of vans, but so far none of them has been launched into mass production.

Fans of German cars believe that finally it's time to release on the road the next auto-show from the famous company for the production of "folk" cars.
