Quinn Melory is the main hero of history who studies physics at the University. Well, the most interesting to him is string theory and the works of Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen.

He accidentally invents a device that allows you to slide into parallel measurements of the planet Earth. Quinn talks about his discovery to his girlfriend Wade Wells and Professor Arturo, after which he goes with them to explore the unknown, but they can not return from their first trip.

Wade Wells is the girlfriend of the main character, in love with him. She is an expert on computers and a faithful companion of Quinn in sliding on other worlds.

Professor Maximilian Arturo is Professor of Cosmology and Ontology at the University of California, where Queen studies. He is a little bit narcissistic and a little jealous that it is not he who invented the slider. But he loves Queen Melori and in one episode says that he would like to have a son like Queen.

Rembrant Brown accidentally enters the portal along with his Cadillac. It sucks, as the power of the slider was too high. Rembrandt did not really want to slide, but he was the only one who did not have a choice. Later, Quinn and Rembrandt will become best friends.

Other characters

Maggie Beckett is the captain of the US Air Force. She joined Quinn and his team in the third season. Slipping accidentally witnessed the death of her husband Maggie, and she decided to go with them, hoping that she would find those responsible for her husband's death. So, the heroine wanted revenge.

Colin Melory is Quinn's brother, with whom his parents separated him, being also sliders (gliding between worlds). Quinn meets Colin in one of the worlds, where everything is at the level of the 19th century, so Colin is a bit strange and naive himself. He joins the team in 4-5 seasons.

Also in the pilot series, Professor Arturo calls Lenin by the name of Nikolai, although, as you know, Lenin was always called Vladimir, but obviously the professor knows that the name Nikolai was one of the pseudonyms of Ilyich.

One of the episodes was coined on the basis of "The Wizard of Oz," Frank Baum.

References to books are not uncommon in the series, many episodes were created under the influence of fantastic novels.
