Despite the huge selection of ready-made fixtures in stores, the interest in making exclusive models of household lighting devices by oneself is still great. Often this is due to the fact that manual work sometimes allows you to create something that you can not buy in any store (for example, in which store you can see David's head with a shade instead of a hat), or the interior of the room is so original that it requires unusual additions. Finally, it is often a pity to throw out an old lamp that lasted for many years, but, however, restoration is necessary.

Floor lamps - floor lamps on high legs, which became very popular in the 60s of the last century and remained so for several decades, have recently undergone some design reconstruction, have become more functional, technological and minimalistic. In elegant, refined, classical interiors, floor lamps are called large decorative lamps, located on low planes next to a sofa or an armchair and filling the room with soft muted light.

It is quite possible to make a floor lamp with your own hands, it is important to determine its appearance and function in the interior. If it is intended to illuminate the work corner, it can be made from an old floor lamp stand or a bamboo hollow stick (sold in building material stores) or, for example, from a thin birch trunk, cleaned and varnished. Ready-made fixtures of directional light are attached to the prepared rack on clothespins with movable heads, which are easy to find in any store. If the stand is hollow inside, the electrical cords from the luminaires are let in through the holes made and removed at the base, by combining one terminal and making one cord with a plug. If the floor lamp, made by hand, has a solid base, then the cords from the lamps are wrapped in a bright decorative rope, then gently wrapped around the stand, fixed at the base and fastened with a fork.

You can make floor lamps with your own hands from floor vases, large flower pots, and also as a base to use plaster moldings, which are sold in specialized stores. It is also possible to adapt a large gypsum bust or tailor's dummy to the floor lamp.

How to make a floor lamp from a large vase? The most difficult stages of work will be the strengthening on the neck of a metal cover with a hollow pin through which the wire is passed and to which the cartridge and lampshade are attached, as well as drilling a hole on the side of the vase slightly above the bottom. You can, of course, do not do this hole, if you are afraid of preserving the fragile material, but to let the cord on top, but this is not very aesthetic.

We fix the metal cover on the vase with the help of the stop, the size of which is equal to the widest place of the vase. As a cover, you can use a rubber stopper in the size of the neck. In this case, no emphasis will be required, since the rubber will fit tightly into the hole. Before fixing the lid, pass through the hole in its center the cord. From above we screw a piece of metal tube, the height of which can be arbitrary, the longer it is, the higher the floor lamp, made by hand. Through the tube we also pass the cord and bring it up. The second end of the cord is let go inside the vase and pass into the hole made by the side. The ends of the wire are carefully cleaned and we attach a cartridge on one side and a fork on the other. The wire at the connection point is well insulated. If the vase is light and unstable, before you close the neck tight it should be poured into it a layer of sand or small pebbles. Now you can start making a lamp shade.

For the shade, a wireframe of thick wire is used, welded in the form of an inverted bucket. In the center, a circle is always laid to attach the lampshade to the cartridge. The finished wire frame is covered with a dense cloth or covered with corrugated paper folded paper. Beautifully looks openwork knitted fabric.

1. A plain white silk fabric can be painted with special paints and contours for fabric. Or paste applications cut from transparent nylon, lace, etc.

2. The lampshade can be made from a female feather boa, which is sold in a fabric store. Just wrap the frame and attach it to the longitudinal wire ribs with threads.

3. Effectively it will look like a lamp shade made of a transparent capron with decorative butterflies pasted on it, artificial flowers and herbs.
