7 reasons to try yoga next weekend

Yoga improves your mind and body. Yoga classes will help you get not only good physical fitness and flexibility. You can also expect to reduce stress, increase concentration and improve posture. Do you need confirmation? Read more about the reasons why you need to do yoga the next weekend.

1. Absence of pressure

Unfortunately, for most people, exercises are associated with punishment. You practice on the treadmill because you ate too much, and you need to burn calories. Such an attitude is unnecessary and unhealthy. Yoga is a great way to teach yourself that with the help of exercises you are healing your body, and do not torture it.

2. Reducing Stress

Yoga is an effective tool for reducing stress and back pain at work. In one of the studies, participants were divided into two groups of 37 people: the first engaged in yoga for 50 minutes a day for eight weeks, and also received a 20-minute disc with exercises for home classes. The control group did not do anything. The group that practiced yoga felt much less tension, back pain, bad mood and hostility than the control group. They also said that they feel more confident, attentive and serene.

3. Increased concentration and motivation

Studies by the American College of Sports Medicine have shown that yoga can improve concentration, increase motivation and reduce anxiety after two months of training. At the second and ninth week of the study, the level of concentration, motivation and anxiety of its participants was measured. According to the authors of the study, its results can be called "dramatic". But this should not be surprising, because yoga is perceived as a serious discipline in the East.

Another study conducted at the University of Illinois, showed that yoga improves brain function and its ability to focus on the task. The study involved 30 people. One group performed aerobic exercises (on a treadmill), while the other was engaged in yoga. Their exercises were reduced to brief meditations and proper breathing. Those who practiced yoga showed a higher ability to focus, learn and remember new information.

4. Improving balance and stability

A study published by the Department of Veterans Affairs found that yoga improves motor function and balance after a stroke. Three-quarters of all people who have suffered a stroke suffer from falls (which threatens with broken limbs), so this yoga benefit for old people is not appreciated. Try yoga for beginners, and you will be able to move more confidently.

5. Improved flexibility

A flexible body, capable of performing the entire range of movements, is much less susceptible to various kinds of injuries. Do not worry, you do not need to stand on your head or perform a "split". To begin with, try exercises for beginners and gradually increase their complexity.

6. Confidence of posture

Spending the days sitting in front of the computer is a sure way to damage your posture (not to mention other risks that a sedentary lifestyle is fraught with). Start attending yoga classes if you want to have a perfect posture, and you can walk with your head held high.

7. Improving sleep

Researchers of the Department of Sleep Medicine (at the Harvard School of Medicine) observed the influence of yoga on patients who suffered from insomnia. They practiced 45-minute yoga and meditation classes in the evening for eight weeks. Participants reported such statistically important data as improving sleep efficiency and duration, total waking time and sleep quality. It was proved that some poses in yoga contribute to a quick falling asleep and a better sleep. But this is reflected in the quality of human life. Start yoga, and a sound sleep is guaranteed.
