4005 - iTunes error. How to eliminate?

Users of Apple products are very often faced with problems associated with smartphones that stop switching on, hang or give out unfamiliar error codes. Some believe that this is due to problems in the phone itself, but this is far from the case. The quality of "apple" smartphones are still considered the best, and the bug 4005 in iTunes and other problems most often occur due to attempts to reflash the phone, improper updates and much more. Most often, the reason for this "indisposition" is the users themselves. It is not uncommon for a bug 4005 in iTunes to occur due to an elemental moisture trap in the device.

When most often there is a malfunction

Usually from such "ailments" suffer any Apple products. Therefore, owners of ipads also often complain that an unknown error 4005 occurred in iTunes. Usually this happens if:

  • Aypad or the phone unexpectedly lost its connection with the OS of the computer while updating the programs.
  • There was a corruption of the boot packages or they were not installed completely.
  • These media player programs were damaged through the PC operating system registry. This is usually due to the manual removal of utilities or some files.
  • A virus or other malicious software has entered the computer system.
  • A broken USB cable was used. The manufacturer recommends the use of only original products.
  • A short circuit occurred inside the phone. This sometimes happens when the device is overheated or undercooled.
  • IPhone was damaged. Very often after falling on the phones some modules are disabled. Not only the touch panel and the display may suffer, but the motherboard as well.
  • The battery is out of order.
  • The software has failed.
  • A defective device was purchased.

By and large, the cause of the device outage can be anything. Consider the most common methods to combat malfunction.

Restart iTunes

The easiest way is to connect the iPhone to a PC, exit the media player and restart it. However, this will only work if the iTunes 4005 error was caused by a temporary crash. If the media player still does not work, you need to try other ways. For example, you can try to update the media player.

ITunes Update

To perform this action on a Mac OS, you must:

  • Go to the iTunes menu.
  • Select from the "Check for updates" list and start this mode.
  • Wait until files have finished loading.

If it's a Windows OS, you need to do the same. The only difference is that you need to select Check for Updates.

Restart the computer

If iTunes error 4005 on iPhone 5S or other models of the device still appears, the problem can be hidden in the PC itself. To solve the problem, it is enough to try to restart the computer and try to reactivate the media player.

Reboot the phone

If an unknown error 4005 in iTunes continues to bother, it's worth taking more serious steps to fix it. For this you need:

  • Find on the phone 2 buttons: Power and Home.
  • At the same time, clamp them.
  • Wait for about 10 seconds until the iPhone screen goes out.
  • Turn on the phone.

In most cases this helps to solve the problem. If, on restoring iTunes, error 4005 still occurs, you will have to take more serious steps.

Quick phone recovery

Before you restore your phone, be sure to copy from the device all the important data and files. Otherwise, there is a risk of losing all information, pictures and audio recordings.

To perform a quick recovery, you need:

  • At the same time, press the Power and Home buttons for 3-4 seconds.
  • Wait until the phone's screen starts to go out, and immediately turn on the iPhone.

If such actions lead nowhere, you will have to perform a "hard" recovery.

Recovery mode

To go into this mode, it is enough to perform only a few simple actions:

  • Connect the original USB cable to the PC.
  • Turn off the iPhone while holding the Power button.
  • Wait until the display goes out.
  • Hold down the Home key and hold it down until the device turns on.
  • Connect the iPhone to the USB cable that was connected to the PC in the first step.
  • Continue to hold "Home" until the iTunes logo and the cable are displayed on the screen.

If everything is done correctly, the phone will go into Recovery mode. If in this case the error 4005 in iTunes does not disappear, then the device may work in loop mode. In this case, there is a so-called "butterfly effect".

Recovery loop

If after rebuilding the system, the phone constantly downloads only a black screen with an iTunes icon and a cord, then this is a signal that the device is stuck in loop mode. Most often, the reason for this mode is the media player itself. Quite often, such errors are accompanied by the code 9006, which indicates that the computer security software is blocking third-party programs and devices. In this case, iTunes can not get full access to the update database and continues unsuccessful attempts to perform an automatic flashing.

To get the phone out of the loop and not lose contacts, pictures and other useful files, it's easier and more convenient to use a small utility called TinyUmbrella. If it was not possible to install it, then you can use similar means to exit the loop. For example, you can install RedSnow, iRed, or RecBoot. The interface of these utilities is intuitive, so even a beginner will have no difficulties with using them.

However, these programs do not always allow you to cope with the iTunes 4005 error on the 5S. In this case, after using the program, the USB cable icon and the iTunes logo still appear on the screen. Exit this loop, you can, but for this you have to accept that all data on the phone will be lost.

To disable Recovery loop, you need to connect the iPhone to the iTunes and try reinstalling iOS. But this also does not always work. In this case, it remains to enter the phone in DFU mode (update the firmware of the smartphone).

If nothing has helped

In this case, you should try using a different USB cable. If none of the wires are working, then the problem is exactly in the iPhone or PC itself. Therefore, you should check your computer for virus software. Perhaps third-party programs, invisible to the user, deleted some of the media player files. If this is the case, then you need to clean your PC from viruses and download the utility to restore the registry.

It is not always possible to get rid of such mistakes yourself. The fact is that a malfunction may be caused by mechanical damage. In this case, you need to contact the customer service and give the device for diagnosis. If the warranty period is not over and specialists confirm that the problem is in the marriage, then it will be possible to get by with little blood. However, if the culprit of the breakdown was the user himself, then the repair will have to give a decent amount.
