Zmievskaya TPP, Kharkiv region

Zmiev Heat Power Plant is one of the most powerful TPPs in Ukraine. From its work depends on the heat and electricity supply of three areas: Poltava, Sumy, Kharkov. The design capacity reaches 2,400 MW. At present, the enterprise is carrying out a large-scale reconstruction in order to transfer the station to gas coals.

Creature

In 1955, near the city of Kharkov, the construction of a basic power station began, which became the main energy supplier for the industrial centers of the region. The first unit was commissioned in 1960, and the station was commissioned only in 1969.

For that time the capacity of the station - 2400 MW - was a record. For a long time Zmievskaya TPP was one of the leaders of the power industry of the USSR. By 1979, 200 billion kilowatts had been produced, and on February 9, 2006, a 500 billion kilowatt line was reached. And today the value of the thermal power plant is difficult to overestimate. It is one of the top 5 energy generating companies in Ukraine.

Development

At Zmiev TPP, the most advanced technologies in the industry were introduced. The first head unit allowed generating 200 MW - this was a European record. Also for the first time in the country, modernization of the pulverized coal block was carried out with the increase of power up to 275 MW. At the same time, the automated control system (AMS) was introduced, which allows to remotely control every technological process: from the moment of starting to the complete stop. Unlike similar productions, Zmievskaya thermal power plant does not exert a significant burden on the environment due to the installation of the most advanced filtration systems and treatment facilities.

TPP allows the use of anthracite coal, fuel oil and gas as fuel. But it is the anthracite mined in the neighborhood, in the Donbass, that is the main raw material. One kilometer from the station, a settlement of Komsomolskoye power engineers has been built, with a population of more than 17,500 people.

Problems and solutions

The conflict in the Donbass led to a catastrophic shortage of anthracite, which is the main fuel for Zmievskaya TPP. By technological standards, it is impossible to fill gas boilers without boiler changes without constructional changes. Anthracites are fundamentally different from coals of a gas group. When applying the method of pulverized combustion, the safety standards for them are completely different.

Anthracites are poorly flammable low reaction raw materials. Gas, on the other hand, has qualitatively different conditions for ignition. When it is burned, there is a risk of fire and explosion in fuel preparation systems.

The solution to the problem lies in the costly reconstruction of boilers and equipment. Since March 2017, the Zmiev Thermal Power Plant (Kharkov) is decommissioning and dismantling the equipment of the 2nd unit. In the near future, the dismantling of equipment will begin on the 5th block. A project is underway to transfer power units of thermal power plants to the burning of coals of the gas group "DG" and "G" instead of anthracite.

The variant of the reconstruction required a separate calculation of the replacement volumes of boiler units and parts (manufactured in the 1960s in the RSFSR plants) and the cost of measures for working with new explosive and fire hazardous fuels.

Plans for modernization

Annually Ukrainian TPPs and CHPP consume about 9 million tons of anthracite. Re-equipment of only two boilers TP-100 with a capacity of 200-300 MW at Zmievskaya TPP will replace about 1 million tons of anthracite for a coal gas group. According to the project, the launch of the re-equipped 2nd unit is planned for 1.09.2017, the 5th - on October 15 this year.

The implementation of the innovative project contributes to:

  • Increase the reliability of the functioning of the Ukrainian unified energy system.
  • Diversification and reduction of dependence on interruptions in the supply of coal raw materials.
  • Promote industrial production by attracting Ukrainian producers and contractors to carry out technological work on the re-equipment of the boiler units.

At the moment, PJSC "Centrenergo" and all contract organizations have developed the necessary documentation for the transfer of blocks No.2 and No.5 to the burning of G-grade coals. The Kharkov boiler-mechanical plant manufactured individual units for boilers with a total weight of 540 tons. The construction of equipment for feeding, storing, receiving coal was carried out by the Kharkov Institute "TEP-SOYUZ". The design of structural changes in the structure has also been completed, and fire prevention measures have been approved.
