Wild rice is an unusual valuable product

Wild rice is an incredibly useful and unique representative of wild herbs inhabiting the shallow waters of North America. Plant seeds resembling ordinary rice were discovered by Indians several centuries ago and are widely used up to the present.

Every year wild rice is gaining popularity, acquiring admirers not only from culinary and dietitians, but also from ordinary consumers of this valuable product. The grass has unusual beautiful long black seeds that are rich in microelements, amino acids, minerals and even protein. The plant is the leader among cereals by the content of valuable substances. They combine in grains in such a way that one can safely call wild rice a balanced nutritional product.

This cereal in its original form grows only in its homeland, it is very difficult to artificially grow and cultivate in other regions. It is for the waywardness the plant got its name.

Even in ancient times, Indian tribes collected seeds of wild grasses growing in shallow water. And nowadays, at the end of August, annual harvesting of wild rice begins, which is revered for its medicinal, nutritional and useful properties.

Wild rice: benefit

The value of a plant is several times higher than that of ordinary polished rice, even brown or steamed. It turns out that 100 grams of wild grain contains about 15 grams of pure protein, which is an unusually high index, uncharacteristic for the main cereal crops. The composition of black wild rice includes 18 amino acids, which are necessary for a full human life, also cereal contains a large amount of folic acid: a glass of grain is enough to provide the body with a daily rate of this substance.

In addition, wild rice has a standard set of vitamins and minerals. Potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, zinc, as well as the entire group of vitamins B are contained in the product. As a part of the plant, there is practically no sodium, which provokes fluid retention and, accordingly, edema formation.

Wild rice is famous for its ability to restore energy and give strength. No wonder the Indians still give the boiled product to the sick, and in ancient times, the wounded relatives also treated rice. This is possible due to the large content of protein, vitamins and minerals in the grains. Regular consumption of this product has a beneficial effect on the eyesight, improves it and helps to cope with increased eye fatigue.

Wild rice has a high cost, so in its pure form it is practically not consumed, but mostly used as an additive to a brown or steamed fellow. This mixture of valuable products is a perfect side dish to the bird, fish or vegetables.

Another feature of the product is its long cooking, about 40 minutes. However, this defect can be eliminated by pre-soaking the seeds for several hours in cold water. After the swelling of rice, the period of its preparation is reduced, and the grains themselves become much softer and juicier.

Do not confuse wild and marine rice, the reviews of which are also good. However, it is a completely different product, or rather refers to fungi. And, like his tea companion, it is used to make a drink.

A very tasty dish is a wild rice with mushrooms. It is prepared by frying pre-cooked rice with finely chopped mushrooms and onions. Two glasses of rice will require 200 grams of mushrooms. The dish turns out to be useful and nutritious.
