Why Do You Need Drainage Systems?

Drainage systems are water traps. They are mounted where there is need to drain excess water. Conditions for draining water are created in the trench, into which the drainage pipes are laid. These conditions include the creation of pillows made of sand and gravel, between which a drainage pipe is laid. To ensure that the sand with gravel in use is not mixed, they are separated by geotextiles, which do not rot, passes water and retains particles of soil and sand. The entire drainage pie for separating it from the ground is also insulated with geotextiles.

The drainage pipe is made of polyethylene. Asbestos cement or concrete can be used. It has a perforation through which water enters the soil. To protect against sedimentation is covered with geotextile. Laying in the trench is done so that there is a slope towards the spillway. As a spillway, the nearest pond or water intake can be used, from which water is periodically pumped out. Since the drainage system is a kind of filter, this water can be used for technical needs.

When protecting the foundation of the house dig a trench of centimeters 20 below the foundation with a slope of 3-4 degrees. The sand is covered in it with a layer of 5 cm. You can lay the bottom and walls with geotextile before filling with sand. Another geotextile strip is laid in which gravel with particle sizes of 20-40 mm is covered with a layer of 5-10 cm. Then a perforated pipe is laid, wrapped with the mentioned material. Again, pour rubble with a layer of 30-40 cm. Above, the rubble is covered with what was used before filling the sand on the bottom of the trench and pouring the finishing layer of sand. After that, the trench is covered with soil. After a while he will sit down and have to pour it.

Open systems are used to divert water from the site. It is a system of trenches into which water leaves the soil. In some cases, with a deep bedding of subsoil waters, which make the upper layers of the soil not stable, vertical drainage is used, pumping water with pumps.

In more complex cases, the design of the drainage system takes into account the causes of flooding of the territory and the structures constructed on its basis must eliminate the causes of flooding. This takes into account the shape and size of the territory with the features of groundwater movement. The capacity of aquifers and their filtration properties are important. The sources and receivers of groundwater are determined. Prognoses are made for the recovery and reduction of them as a result of the implementation of protective measures. The variants are compared, and the drainage system is selected.
