Why a newborn child can not go to the toilet

Constipation in a newborn is an unpleasant and restless phenomenon for parents, especially if the baby is the first child. In fact, if a newborn child can not go to the toilet - this is not a reason for panic, since constipation in infants - is not uncommon. Even a small change in the diet can lead to such a nuisance. As a rule, a newborn baby empties its intestines in the first day of life, then for several days the stool still has a firm consistency, a dark green color. In the following days it becomes softer and lighter, and after a week everything is already regulated. However, some factors can lead to a situation where a newborn child can not go to the toilet.

Causes

The first and most common cause of constipation in a baby is dehydration or insufficient intake of water. In hot weather, even the smallest crumbs need to be given extra drink. It happens that a newborn child can not go to the toilet during acquaintance with milk formulas or when there are changes in the already familiar diet, for example, when choosing another producer of baby porridge. Likewise, children who are exclusively breastfed can experience constipation when their mother uses unusual products for crumbs. Thus, any changes in the baby's diet can lead to constipation, since the body needs some time to adapt to nutritional innovations.

Symptoms

Constipation is defined as a condition in which the stool becomes dry (hard), sparse or irregularly shaped. Usually, if a newborn child can not go to the toilet, and the chair, as a rule, becomes firm instead of the usual mush-like one - this is the most common symptom of constipation in toddlers. The child has to strain hard, which makes him uncomfortable, and he begins to be capricious. He can also groan, shrink and cry. If the stool is too hard, then it can cause cracks on the skin around the anus of the crumbs, which can sometimes bleed when defecating. Therefore, if your child does not roll regularly or this process is extremely painful for him, then it can be said with certainty that your child has constipation.

How to help crumbs

If the newborn child has constipation, then you can completely cope with it yourself, there is nothing to worry about. A simple, effective and, most importantly, easily accessible method is the mother's breast milk. As you know, it contains laxative substances, donated by nature itself. Before feeding, gently squeeze the tummy of the crumb clockwise and let it lie on your stomach for a while. It will be nice if, after that, you bathe the baby in warm water and then feed the baby, allowing him to suckle until the baby himself releases it or falls asleep. Thus, if in recent days you have not eaten previously untested foods, then within a day the crumb should please you with a soiled diaper. If there is no possibility to breastfeed, and the baby is fed with milk formulas, then finish the baby with water. Thus, the child's chair will become softer and it will be easier for him to move along the intestines. There are times when an enema needs a baby. Usually it is required in those situations if the constipation lasts more than five days. In that case, take the smallest pear with a soft tip, put water of room temperature into it and make an enema for the baby.
