When Gagarin flew into space? In what year did Gagarin fly into space?

Yuri Alekseevich was born on March 9, 1934, and on April 12, 1961, at the age of twenty-seven, Gagarin first flew into space. He made a flight around the Earth on the Vostok-1 spacecraft and saw for the first time our planet from space. What was the cosmonaut's path before Gagarin flew into space, how his life after the flight formed, - about this next article.

Biography

An ordinary boy was born and raised in an ordinary Soviet family in the village of Klushino in the Gzhat district. His father is a carpenter, and my mother worked on a dairy farm.
Cloudless childhood was broken by war. About two years the village was occupied by fascist troops. But in 1943 the village was liberated, and little Yura began to learn. After the war, the family moved to the city of Gzhatsk, later renamed Gagarin.

First, Yura finished seven classes, and by 1951 - a vocational school with a specialty moulder-foundry. In the same year he entered the industrial technical school of Saratov, and in 1954 he first came to the flying club, where he subsequently made one hundred and ninety-six flights, flying almost forty-two and a half hours in the air. Seven years later Yuri Gagarin flew into space, but could he even think about it at least?

In 1955, the young man was drafted into the First Military Aviation School of Pilots named after K. Voroshilov. Having graduated with honors, he served for two years near Murmansk in the fighter aviation regiment of the division of the Northern Fleet, flying two hundred sixty-five hours.

Choosing an Astronaut

In 1959, the resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU decided to select cosmonauts for flight. A group of specialists approved twenty candidates, among whom was Yu. A. Gagarin. Training began with them.
All the candidates were absolutely healthy. They were professionally and physically trained, disciplined pilots of jet fighter aviation. Growth in all was no more than one hundred and seventy centimeters, age - from twenty-five to thirty years, weight - from seventy to seventy-two kilograms.
Of the twenty candidates, three stood out soon: Yuri Gagarin, Grigory Nelyubov and German Titov.
In 1961 (in which year Gagarin flew into space), when they were choosing the first cosmonaut, they were in a hurry, as there were reports that the Americans were also preparing for the flight and were planning it for the 20th April. Therefore, in the USSR the start was planned to be carried out from the eleventh to the seventeenth of April.
On April 8, a meeting of the special commission was held, during which the first mission for a space flight was approved and Yuri Gagarin was nominated. German Titov was appointed reserve.

Vostok-1 - Flight

Gagarin flew into space April 12, 1961, when at 9:07 from the Baikonur cosmodrome, the launch of Vostok-1 was launched. After the command "To start!" Yuri Alekseevich pronounced the famous "Let's go!", And the ship howled upward.

Gagarin spent in space only one hundred and eight minutes. In the orbit, he ate, drank and made notes. All the observations and sensations he recorded on the tape recorder. Then it was not yet known how the human psyche will behave in outer space. Therefore, to enable the manual control of the ship Gagarin had to open the envelope and enter the code on the control panel to unlock.

At the end of the flight, before entering the layers of the atmosphere, the ship tumbled for ten minutes, as the braking motor system underestimated the necessary impulses. The cosmonaut, in order not to frighten the Queen, only reported a certain unplanned situation. Finally, the division of the compartments finally took place. Descent was made with eight, even tenfold overloads. But Gagarin was ready for this. He saw the molten metal fuse on the windows of the windows and heard the crackling of the cabin - the temperature reached five thousand degrees.
In seven kilometers from the earth he catapulted. He landed not in the planned area - a hundred and ten kilometers from Stalingrad, but in the Saratov region.

Meeting in Moscow

Initially, to meet the cosmonaut with honors did not plan. However, NS Khrushchev demanded to prepare a worthy meeting in Moscow and insisted that Gagarin be given the rank of major.

The first cosmonaut flew to Moscow on the IL-18, and the capital was joined by an escort of seven fighters. Flying over the city center, he landed at Vnukovo, where jubilant people, journalists and the leadership of the USSR were waiting. Gagarin walked from the plane's ramp along the bright red path, approached the rostrum and reported to Khrushchev about the fulfillment of the task of the party and the Soviet government.

After that he greeted everyone, driving to ZIL-111V. Celebrations continued in the Kremlin, where Gagarin became Hero of the Soviet Union and received the Order of Lenin. Boys born on that day, many mothers called Yuri.

Foreign trips and awards

Not only in our country, but all over the world we wanted to see the first cosmonaut after Gagarin flew into space. A year, two, three, he traveled with the "Peace Mission" abroad. In Czechoslovakia, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, in Bulgaria - elected as an honorary citizen of the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv, in England - made an Honorable caster, awarded a medal from the golden development of the cosmos, and he met personally with the Prime Minister and Queen Elizabeth II.

In addition to these countries, he visited Finland, Cuba, Canada, Brazil, India, Afghanistan, Hungary, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), UAR (Egypt), France and others. In all, he visited almost thirty countries, where he was greeted by a very warm welcome and many different awards.

After the flight

As a result of constant trips and feasts, Yuri Alekseevich stopped taking regular sports and scored almost nine extra pounds. Nevertheless, since 1961, when Gagarin flew into space, he studied at the Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy and in 1968 defended his diploma.
Studies, as well as social activities, did not leave time for flying practice. He was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet, a member of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, the head of the Cosmonautics Department "Krasnaya Zvezda", the president of the Society of Soviet-Cuban Friendship, a member of Finland-USSR and an honorary member of the Academy of Astronautics.

In 1966, he began to train on the program "Union". He was appointed backup for Komarov (for whom the flight eventually ended tragically).

At the end of 1967, for the first time after Gagarin flew into space, he again ascended into the air, but landed incorrectly. Because of this, the management began to worry about not losing the hero. Gagarin could not fly a fighter on his own, but he achieved direction in order to restore his qualification.

The death of Gagarin

The catastrophe in which the cosmonaut died, happened on March 27, 1968, when a training flight with an experienced instructor VS Seregin was carried out.
A specially created State Commission compiled a report on the causes of the crash in twenty-nine volumes, which was classified. Only in 2013 the documents became available to the public. It turned out that another plane, Su-15, was unauthorized in the flight area of the pilots. After passing ten or fifteen meters, he drove the plane Seregin and Gagarin into a spiral, from which they did not manage to get out.

Personal life

The widow of Yuri Alekseevich was always closed to the press. The interview was later given by her daughter Galina, in which she told that her mother had experienced a great grief, which it was impossible to talk about.

When Valentine (the name of Gagarin's wife) saw Yura for the first time, she did not particularly like her. But his self-confidence gradually triumphed, and in 1958 the girl came to him to the North, where he graduated from the flying school. In 1960, when they had a one-year-old daughter, the family moved to Moscow.

After Yuri Gagarin flew into space, Valentina saw her husband only on Red Square, and they managed to stay alone in a few days. The spouses never quarreled before the children, and when one of them brought up, the other did not interfere.

The day began with gymnastics, when Yuri raised everyone, went down the stairs, calling all the apartments. The charge lasted forty minutes. Valentina, however, did not deal with, because she was busy with other concerns.

In Soviet times, probably, there was no person who did not know in which year Gagarin flew into space. However, the younger generation does not want to remember much. I wonder if there are people today who do not know when Gagarin flew into space and how many of them?
