When did the first touch phone?

Today, a mobile phone with a touch screen is no longer surprising - it has become an ordinary phenomenon in the modern world. But only fifteen years ago one had only to dream about such technology. Do you want to know when the first touch phone appeared and what was it like?

The emergence of mobile phones

The idea of creating such a device arose in 1947, and in life it was embodied ten years later by the Soviet radio engineer Leonid Ivanovich Kupriyanovich. This machine was called LK-1 and weighed three kilograms. Just a year later, the weight of the device dropped to half a kilogram. And in 1961 the mobile phone could be placed on the palm of your hand and weighed about 70 grams.

In 1973, Motorola released a prototype cell phone, which was called Motorola DynaTAC. He weighed just over a kilogram and had twelve keys on the front panel. In the talk mode, the phone could work for about one hour, and in standby mode - up to eight. The charge lasted more than ten hours.

First touch phone

In 1998, the Japanese company Sharp created the first touch phone - PMC-1 Smart-phone. In addition to the innovative screen in it, there was almost nothing special. Therefore, the main purpose of its creation - the competition with the communicator Nokia 9000 - has not been achieved.

In the same year Alcatel One Touch COM was released. It is with him, oddly enough, the history of touch phones begins.

Both of these devices were not widely used, so soon as they themselves, and the technology of touch control were forgotten.

The next phone with a touch screen became Ericsson R380. He was the first attempt to create a smartphone with touch controls. He possessed a small monochrome screen with a resolution of 360x120. In addition, his management was severely limited, since it was not possible to install additional programs.

In 2002, the company released the first full-fledged smartphone with a touchscreen - QTek 1010/02 XDA. His display was already quite impressive at that time - 3.5 inches, plus maintaining 4096 colors. The smartphone was running the operating system Windows Mobile 2002.

The first touch phone Nokia

In 2003, the famous Finnish brand announced its first touch-sensitive phone - Nokia 7700. However, the release of the model to the market has been postponed several times, and ultimately consumers have not waited. Instead of "Nokia 7700" was released immediately, "Nokia 7710".

New page in the development of phones

In 2007, the mobile industry turned the product from Apple - iPhone. This is the first touch phone that supported two new functions: finger control and multitouch, that is, touching in several places simultaneously. Also this year came HTC Touch, which also had a high popularity due to the special technology TouchFLO and the lack of rails at the edges of the screen, which prevented access to certain elements.

The future of the mobile industry

It's hard to believe that the history of the development of cell phones is more than fifty years old. For all this time, the mobile industry has gone through many stages of its development. And although the first touch phones appeared relatively recently, progress does not stand still. Soon this technology will be replaced by a more modern and convenient, for example, voice or holographic control.
