When and how to replant the peonies: instruction for beginners

Our gardeners are no longer surprised by the abundance of all kinds of flowering plants that can turn your garden into a real work of art. Peony is one of them. Of course, their cultivation is somewhat problematic for beginners, but all the difficulties are worth it.

Particularly urgent is the question of when and how the peonies are transplanted. And this is not accidental, since these flowers are very sensitive to growing conditions. Agrotechnics should be observed exactly, otherwise you will not get the desired result exactly.

A bit of history

In our country, the first passionate lover of these flowers was Peter I himself, who brought bulbs from the Netherlands. Since then, domestic breeders have brought out many excellent varieties, some of them are known to this day.

Before you ask yourself the question of when and how to replant peonies, you should consider the appropriateness of such actions. The fact is that with normal soil cultivation and pest control of flower plants, they can be left in one place for two decades. In addition, with frequent transplants, peonies cease to regularly bloom.

But if there really was such a need, the plant should be transferred to another place entirely. Being divided, it will not only not blossom normally, but it can simply perish.

Getting ready for a transplant

The easiest way (and because this method is often used by beginners) is not to transplant the plants themselves, but their rhizomes. This operation is in progress at the end of August. Plants carefully dig up, then extracted from the soil. Rhizomes as delicately cleared from the ground, remove the old and rotten parts, and then cut them at an angle.

It is best to transplant those parts of the bush that have about five eyes and the same number of full roots, not affected by pests. A little advice: it's easier to share those roots that are in a state of slight drying out.

We begin the transplant

Prepare a pit of suitable dimensions in advance: its depth and width should be equal to 60 cm. The bottom is neatly loosened approximately on the bayonet's bayonet, adding there a mixture of turf, humus and a small amount of mineral fertilizers removed from the upper layer. Eyes should be located five to six centimeters below the soil level.

If they are higher - the plant is almost guaranteed to freeze in the spring. Burying your eyes too deep, you are unlikely to see full bloom. Transplant the flower, gently tamp the soil around the bush. With the question of when and how to replant peonies, we almost figured out, but we need to mention some of the nuances of their cultivation.

To get quality and annual flowering, for its "wards" should choose well-lit and the most protected from the winds of the site. This should be thought of first of all, wondering about when and how the peonies are transplanted. It is very important!

However, it is not necessary to completely isolate pions from circulating air, since in this case the probability of occurrence of various kinds of pests and diseases is sharply increased.

Therefore, before transplanting the peony in the summer, carefully inspect your site for the location of the optimal location.

The best soils are well-digested and fertilized loamy soils. The slightest stagnation of moisture in the soil can put a cross on your dreams of a garden with fragrant peonies, so at a depth of about 0.7 m it will not hurt to make drainage from gravel.

So you learned about how and when to replant peonies!
