The jasper: landing and leaving. Growing a seed from a seed

Really enthusiastic flower growers necessarily have in their garden soil protection. No Alpine slide will not do without unpretentious herbaceous plants, pleasing the eye with flowering during the early summer, when the garden does not yet feel a riot of colors. One of the most popular soil coverers is the jask. Planting and caring for the plant are so simple that many growers fill the hollowed holes in the soil between the tall ornamental crops. Thus, you can kill two birds with one stone: a grassy flower replaces weeds and forms a kind of decorative carpet, over which lilies and roses rise.

We expand our horizons

Many gardeners grow soil cover, calling them in their own way. Thus, the Cerastium, a description of the species that indicates belonging to the Clove family, is called a carnation in the common people. And very few people know about the real name of this popular culture. This herbaceous perennial has several species, of which a felted felt, Bieberstein, and also the Alpine have well settled on the territory of Russia.

Why does the frog need to settle in your garden?

Everyone loves flowers, but not everyone has time to look after them. Many are at their dacha by visits or they prefer to grow vegetable crops there. Therefore, if there was no such decorative plant in nature as a felted felt, the planting and care of which does not require certain skills and knowledge, it would have to be invented. The plant is able to break through the stones, literally rooting in them with roots, not demanding for top dressing, and also able to withstand the open sun and wind. Yes, and pests do not particularly favor the sponge, preferring to eat onion and large-flowered crops.

What is a plant valued for?

In addition to small white inflorescences, reminiscent of the structure of a carnation, and continuous flowering in early summer, the sponge is revered by gardeners for beautiful silvery foliage. Even when the soil cover does not actively bloom, he practically does not lose in presentability. Elastic silvery foliage begins active shaping of the shoots and is capable of pleasing the eye until autumn frosts.

Breeding Multiplication

It was at this time that the cultivation of the jask and the care for it were reduced to the formation of grassy bush for future flower beds. The plant likes watering, so during the transplantation of water for roots it is not necessary to regret. Faded bushes are well divided, and their shallow root system does not experience special stress during fission. And yet it is better to do bush division in moderate temperatures.

Cultivation of the seed from the seeds: we observe the conditions of the soil

Faded bushes in their small boxes accumulate and retain seeds. Checking and making sure that the seed has already become thoroughly dark, you can start sowing a jasper for the winter. To do this, we select the site for planting and remember that we will get the shoots in the spring, and the flowering will have to wait another year. Given that the plant is able to grow even on rocks, there is no special requirement for soil, with a few exceptions. We should not put too nutritious soil under the planting, and also we need to make sure that the selected area is well absorbed and moisture is retained - these are the conditions for emergence of ripened seeds. Therefore, especially peat and sandy soils and soil with good drainage are especially welcome.

Climatic conditions of growth

And you noticed, walking along the neighboring flower beds and rock gardens, that sorts of plants seem to be alone, but the density and bushiness are noticeably different? Of course, unpretentious soil cover will grow under any conditions, but only where there is more sun and heat, plants will have more power. That is why in the garden areas located on a natural slope, the best is a shrub. Planting and plant care on the Alpine hills, in view of this feature, are more favorable from the south or south-west side. Depleted soil, open areas - all these are excellent conditions for the growth of the jask. Do not be afraid to plant seeds, for example, under the apple tree, on a half-shaded area. But in the shadow of the puzzle, although it will grow, but it will not be necessary to bloom from it.

Features during flowering period

Pleasure from contemplation of a continuous flowering carpet is provided for at least a month and a half. Sometimes the plant blooms again in the second half of the summer, but only rare inflorescences through the carpet are seen during this period. If our task is to prolong the flowering of the soil cover, as soon as flowers appear on the grass, the conditions for ornamental culture can be slightly improved. To do this, we will remove actively weed through the soil weeds. In the second half of the summer, we do not have to do this. The jask will grow so strong and grow that perhaps no weed can break through its carpet.

When weeding the flowering carpet, we will properly loosen the soil. The roots of the plant are very fond of fresh air. It is not for nothing that in a wild nature the culture grows in stony, mountainous areas. During flowering, mineral fertilizers can be added.

The jasper: landing and leaving. Division by cuttings

We know that the plant can multiply by the seeds that it throws into the soil, we know how to multiply the jask by dividing the bush. The period of the flowering of culture is the most favorable time for trying to make an attempt at reproduction by cuttings. The procedure of cuttings is not complicated. To do this, cut a single flowering stalk and place it in the soil, water, tamp the earth around the stem and cover with a glass jar to create a favorable greenhouse atmosphere. You can take off the can when the new processes are gaining strength. Up to this point, it is undesirable to touch a plant.

Haircut and bush forming

After the end of flowering, it will be good to rid the plant of dried flower stalks. If we need seeds for seedlings, we collect just as much as we need. The remaining faded sinuses can easily be cut with scissors or a pruner. Also, we can regularly cut the creeping carpet and cut off the most powerful upper shoots. This will allow in the next season to achieve an incredibly proportional bushiness and splendor. The effect of renewed flowering is also possible with regular haircuts.

How often do they divide and transplant the jask?

All decorative and cultural plants sooner or later require a new habitat, including a pincushion. Planting and caring for newly formed shrubs require a certain cycle - at least 3 years. If every year to share bushes, it is easy to break the general aesthetic perception. Also, if we do not pay attention to the old bush, the plant is gradually able to degenerate or lose its primordial strength. Therefore, a complete change of habitat is necessary for the bush, at least after 5 years.

It can be considered that a theoretical educational program concerning this unpretentious perennial has been carried out. We learned a lot about the soil cover of the pincushion. Planting, growing and caring for the crops do not require excessive efforts from florists. Now comes the time of practical action.
