What parents should know about the period when the child starts to sit

Until quite recently your baby learned to hold the head and coordinate the movements until the naughty handles and legs. Just a few months ago the happy parents saw the first smile of the baby and heard his first "aga". Now, your child will have to conquer new heights of development - learn to sit.

What is the norm?

From the 4th month of life, the child begins to make attempts to sit down. Of course, the muscles of his back are still too weak and all the efforts of the crumbs end in falls. But, thanks to this training, every time the kid feels more confident. Closer to 6 months, many children can sit for a long time, leaning on the handles. And after six months, when the muscles of the press and back are sufficiently strengthened, the need to balance with the upper limbs disappears. Between the 6th and 7th month the child begins to sit alone: he feels confident, freely turns the head, watches with interest, plays. So in the norm there is a period when the child starts to sit.

Deviation from the norm - not always pathology

If your crumb develops in a different scenario - do not get upset and immediately register for admission to all sorts of doctors. After all, what is the norm? This is just the average value of a variety of options. And your baby is unique. He has his own program of growth and the formation of new skills. So, many children first learn to stand, walk and talk, and only then - sit and crawl.

How much the child starts to sit depends on his complexion and individual characteristics. Large, large height babies may be slightly behind their slender peers. On the spine of well-fed young falconers, a great deal of stress is put on, which means that you should not worry if your baby has sat down a little later than the rest of the children. He is absolutely healthy!

There is nothing wrong with the fact that your child already sits down and keeps his balance by 5 months. Just this child is active and strong. Aspiring to fully comply with the norm, forcibly laying crumbs in the crib, you can hurt him.

However, there are also some alarming symptoms, noticing that they still have to turn to the pediatrician. So, if in 3-5 months the baby is ill, hesitantly holds the head, and at the age of 6-7 does not attempt to sit down even with the help of the parents, it is necessary to consult a specialist. Perhaps your baby needs special gymnastics, massage or even medication. In addition, if by the year the daughter or son can not sit with straight elongated legs - this is also an excuse for going to the hospital.

How to help the baby sit down?

Up to 4-5 months the baby spent most of the time in the crib or at the mom's on his hands. Now, when the child starts to sit, the world around him opens up in a new light: fresh foreshortenings and colors, a lot of interesting things that have not yet been studied, and places. I want to explore and learn everything as soon as possible. At this stage, parents should help the crumb feel comfortable and confident in the "sitting" position.

When the child starts to sit, he does not always manage to coordinate the movements. To make it easier to learn, support and insure it in the first stages. For this purpose, special children's devices or hand-cut out of foam rubber "back". Never put the baby on a too hard surface. It will be better to put soft pillows around it that will avoid injuries and bruises with inevitable falls. If your child is set up to learn the world in the sandbox, make a small indent there. Relying on its edges, the little one can keep his balance.

When a child starts to sit, the most important thing for him is love and support. Smile, cheer up the crumb and never doubt it!
