What is pronation of the foot

The mechanism of the human foot is very complicated. During the running, walking, jumping, this section of the limb is experiencing a tremendous load every minute. When in contact with the support, it passes through three motor phases: retracted or driven, bent or unbent, turns outward or inward. Therefore, it is not surprising that with such loads almost eighty percent of people have problems associated with this leg department.

The foot condition is affected by enough factors. These include physical activity, general health, occupation, and sometimes shoes. The mechanism of depreciation, the ability of this section of the limb to be made as flat as possible during the load, specialists defined the term "pronation of the foot."

How to determine its degree, find out what was the cause of the injury? This, of course, can only be done by a doctor. However, today many people try to understand the causes of their ailments on their own, so this article will be useful to them.

Pronation of the foot is its rotational movement inside. It helps to reduce the impact load, which is accompanied by the contact of the limb with the support, and also scatter it over the entire surface.

When there is excessive pronation, the feet of a person are sore or often injured. Most often this is observed in runners, as well as those who are much in motion. As a rule, such people are provoked by shin injuries, sore knees and areas near the tibia.

The cause of these problems is a flat contact with the support, as a result of which the arch of the foot is moved inward, and the toes are outward. As a result, excessive pressure is created on the tibia and, as a consequence, the effectiveness of the muscles that stretch is reduced.

The other extreme - supination or insufficient pronation of the foot - on the contrary, reduces shock shock absorption when contacting the support surface, since in this case the person rests only on its outer part.

Neither excessive pronation of the foot, nor supination is undesirable. In both cases, biomechanical failures in a certain part of this department create an excessive load. And as a result, pathologies begin to develop. For example, bone deformation or the emergence of a tissue protective layer can be observed, etc. Pronation of the foot can also have hereditary roots.

Of course, such a violation of the motor function for life is not a threat. Perhaps, therefore, orthopedists do not sound alarm when the pronation of the foot has excessive or insufficient indicators, especially since this ailment does not require long-term medical treatment.

Most often, the doctor recommends the patient to wear special shoes, correcting the movement of the foot, and also use insoles for arch supports. This prevents the further development of the disorder, as well as the normalization of the indicators, so that the pain is reduced. Of great importance is a special therapeutic exercise. In the course of it, the structures are consolidated and the pronation of the foot is normalized.
