What is cruise control for the driver?

What is cruise control? It is an indispensable assistant for a motorist traveling to distant distances. Without it, trips behind the wheel would be much more tiring.

What is cruise control? This is a small computer. It is usually located behind the instrument panel or under the hood. The device is connected to special sensors and to throttle control. The system is designed to track any button press and change the position in which pedals are set.

The computer analyzes the information received from the devices and displays reliable information about the speed necessary for the car's movement. In this case, the throttle valve is adjusted by means of a pneumatic drive. This process is possible due to the restriction of the amount of air entering the engine.

Cruise control, working in conjunction with the mechanism of driving, can produce various actions. These include the following:

- proportional control;

- integral;

- derivative.

Proportional tracking of the engine's operation regulates the movement of the car with the throttle. The value of the correction is proportional to the difference between the actual and the specified speed.

With integrated monitoring, the acceleration of the machine is controlled when driving up an inclined road section. At slowing of a course the throttle заслонка is slightly opened.

Derivative control is carried out to respond to changes in the situation on the road. In the event that the car resets speed, the computer performs an acceleration analysis before the moment when the movement of the car changes very noticeably, and reacts to this situation by opening the throttle.

Adaptive cruise control is the latest development. It comes to replace the obsolete systems related to the first generation. This device is able to analyze the distance to the vehicle ahead of your car, and adjust the movement to a safe speed. These automation systems use radar in their work. Its installation is carried out directly behind the radiator grille. The radar determines the distance to the vehicle ahead, analyzing the return rate of the signal sent to it, and (if necessary) corrects it.

What is the next generation cruise control and what is its difference from the initial development? The main advantage of this system is the automatic adjustment of the speed necessary to maintain a safe distance to the vehicle ahead in front. When this distance is reduced, the computer starts sending the necessary signals to the brake pads and the motor. The speed of the car is automatically reduced. After the road in front is released, cruise control restores vehicle traffic. This process is controlled by the longitudinal controllers, the digital signal processor and the radar sensor.

What is Adaptive Cruise Control? It is an excellent assistant for the driver, not allowing to encounter the transport going ahead. The device works great together with the brake emergency system.

Cruise control greatly facilitates the work of drivers and creates conditions for the safety of the trip. However, it should be remembered that the human factor remains in the first place.
