Weaving of owls from rubber bands: detailed instructions

Weaving owls from rubber bands is perhaps one of the most fascinating kinds of creativity. The process is much more complicated than the production of pattern bracelets, and it is much more interesting: a large night bird is padded in the amigurumi technique and as a result will not be a plain-looking flat figure, but a real bright toy of all the favorite multi-colored rubber bands.

To create a wonderful gift and just a beautiful toy, you will need a whole set of Fannie Lum rubber bands (about 500 pieces, colors for your taste), as well as a hook and filler (holofiber is suitable).

First step

  • Any scheme of weaving an owl of rubber bands involves the initial manufacture of a ring, for which you will need seven rubber bands. Pull the first "Fanny Lum" on the hook and wrap it around twice, to make three rings. The next elastic band stretch through these eyelets without removing them from the hook.
  • Throw the second side of the rubber band on the hook and make a knot, stretching the left half of the "Fanny Lum" through the right. Do not over tighten.
  • Once again, hook the hook through the three eyelets and give the next rubber band. Throw the other half on the instrument. First loop on the hook, first through the second, then sequentially through the third.
  • Once again, hook the hook through the three eyelets. Stretch one more rubber. Throw her second half on the hook, then draw in the first loop on the left.
  • Repeat the previous steps until you patch all the rubber bands to the end. It turns out a small ring with a chain of six loops. This is the initial weaving of an owl of rubber bands. At you the first row of a cloth of a toy is ready.

Second phase

The second row consists of a dozen "Fanny Lum", each of which is looped twice. To understand the sequence of actions you will help the scheme of weaving of rubber bands. Owls on the machine are not so voluminous as on a simple hook, so to create a real big toy, keep following the suggested instruction.

  • First, connect the loops together, hook the hook into the first loop after just being thrown. Pull out each rubber as in the first step. When counting the rubber bands on the second row, there should be twelve.
  • Scheme: 2-2-2-2-2-2.

The third stage

  • The third row consists of 18 rubber bands. Weave according to the scheme: 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2. Through the first link weave the rubber band twice, through the next - only once.
  • If you stretch the resulting weave, you can check how many times the rubber is put into the loop - so you can figure out the number of elastics and eyelets, if suddenly entangled in the scheme.

Fourth stage

  • Weaving the owls of gum will soon come to an end. To start the fourth row, weave "Fanny Lum" according to the scheme 1-1-2 - so you increase the diameter of the circle. Take another 24 rubber bands and follow the pattern: 1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-1-2. Next, twist the circle, winding the hook once in each of the links. Make as many rows as you need to make a toy of the size you want.
  • Fill the owl with filler, then connect the edges of the upper side. To do this, stretch the last remaining loop through the adjacent ones and make a knot, then repeat with the next row of loops.

How to make a beak

Take a rubber band of contrasting color and wrap it around the hook so that there are three loops. Pass through them two new rubber bands. Take two more "Fanny Lum" and pull through the resulting ringlet on one side, and the other half of these gum springs back onto the hook. Then return to the hook that pair of loops, on which are fixed three rings. Through this pair of loops weave two rubber bands. On the hook should remain eight loops. Take the gum and pounce all the loops on it. The beak can now be fixed on the toy.

Eyes and ears

Weaving the owl from the rubber bands is almost complete - only the eyes and ears remained. Black eyes are woven in the same way as the first ring for the bird itself (see the first stage). To make the outer white part, take two white "Fanny Lum" and twist them two at a time, into each loop of the black ringlet. Subsequently, draw the black loop to the wrong side - this will be the attachment to the toy.

Ears should not be weaved - it is enough to cut several colored rubber bands and tie them with knots. Instead of rubber, small pieces of serpentine or decorative tape made of synthetic material can be used.

You got a homemade toy made of rubbery "Fanny Lum". It can be presented to a close person, and you can weave a whole collection of the owls of different colors and sizes and make all friends happy with a pleasant surprise.
