We learn a little about the main brake cylinder

Modern cars have such characteristics that the speed of a couple of hundred kilometers per hour does not surprise anyone. Moreover, modern technology allows a 1.5-liter engine to develop 150-200 horsepower, this achievement ten years ago required three liters of working volume.

Therefore, we can conclude that at these speeds it is important to stop in time. In turn, this requires maintaining the braking system in good condition. Not without reason in the SDA is prohibited the operation of a vehicle with a faulty brake system, even to the repair site. The main assembly of the brake system is the master cylinder.

Most systems are multi-circuit. This means that the brake master cylinder itself is divided into several chambers, most often two. Such a system has received the widest distribution, because it was the most convenient scheme: one kennel per axle. Thus, even if the front wheel brakes fail, for example, the rear wheels will still function.

A positive aspect is the fact that the main brake cylinder is practically not exposed to wear. The fact is that the piston in it is equipped with a kind of piston rings. They, like their "companions", perform the function of maintaining pressure. Only here they are made of rubber, so that the contact between the mirror of the cylinder and the metal does not occur. As a rule, the damage occurs due to the untimely replacement of the brake fluid, in which particles of different foreign bodies remain.

As a rule, these rubber seals are worn, because no rubber, no matter what properties it possesses, can not be preserved in the brake fluid. There are two types of brake cylinders.

For example, the brake cylinder VAZ is not equipped with a reservoir for the brake fluid, it is fixed slightly higher on the body. This scheme is good because the tank does not interfere in the engine compartment, and also guarantees its safety, because the engine's temperature conditions are very high. Of course, it is made of heat-resistant plastic, but anything can happen.

There is also another master cylinder. Gazelle, for example. Here the tank with the liquid is fixed directly on it. The advantages of this technology can be attributed greater compactness, than in the previous package. In addition, there are no connecting hoses that, since contact with the brake fluid, become defective over time. They also require a fairly strong tightening with clamps, because the brake fluid has amazing hygroscopicity, and its leakage disables the braking system .

As a rule, if there is still wear, then the main brake cylinder changes with internal parts, in what good condition they are. The fact is that it can happen again, because the wear of the parts can also become a consequence of a defect in any part, and if it is not replaced, all the work will go to waste. As they say, the miser pays twice. So do not feel sorry for the money, because you just have to once again buy a new brake cylinder.
