Engine preheater "Binar": reviews. Engine preheater "Binar": instruction, price

In the conditions of our severe climate, car owners often have a problem with the morning launch of their "iron horse". It is especially bad when the outside temperature is -20 degrees Celsius and below. Each launch in such conditions shamelessly "eats" the motor resource. But we are now talking about gasoline engines! Can you imagine what is the weather like for owners of diesel cars?

How can you cope with this problem, what do drivers' reviews say? The engine preheater "Binar" can be a good option! What is it? Let's discuss this issue!

What it is?

This is the name of the autonomous heating equipment used to pre-start the engine. Of course, such a device not only saves a lot of nerves to the owner of the car, which is started in any weather, but also saves the resource of the engine. What are the reviews about this? The engine preheater "Binar", as motorists from all parts of our country consider, is really an excellent way to save time, money and nerves.

So, even old diesel cars at an ambient temperature of -30 degrees Celsius start starting from the very first time (subject to the availability of a normal battery). In general, "Binar" - the manufacturer is truly domestic, and therefore the device is indeed qualitatively adapted to our realities.

General technical characteristics

The manufacturer himself cites the following characteristics of his products:

  • Autonomous engine heater, working regardless of the mode of the latter.

  • Heat dissipation is 5 kW.

  • The food is from a common gas tank. The fuel consumption is approximately 0.6 liters per hour.

  • It is connected to the battery, consumes approximately 40-45 W.

  • The maximum temperature of warming up the motor is +75 degrees Celsius.

  • There is a regular protection against battery depletion and engine overheating.

The device is started from the console, which is mounted in the car's interior. Its display shows the voltage in the vehicle's on-board network, as well as the current engine temperature. In addition, it is possible to install three timers at once.

Confirm or refute these characteristics of the reviews? Pre-engine heater engine "Binar", strange as it may be for domestic products, really corresponds to this data. Moreover, our motorists especially like the fact that the device, if compared with foreign analogs, is incomparably cheaper.

Principle of work "Binara"

The device is integrated in the engine's cooling system. In this case, the pump provides circulation of the liquid both in the cooling system and in the device itself. The principle of operation is quite simple: the heat exchange fluid is heated and forcibly pumped through the vehicle's cooling system. For heating, a separate burner is used, fuel for which swings from the gas tank with a separate gasoline pump.

Perhaps, it is better to put an electrical pre-engine heater: 220V will certainly cope with its task no worse !? In principle, this is true, but this technique assumes the presence of a very good and powerful battery, as well as an on-board generator.

Even on relatively new budget machines, none of the above is usually in principle, what can we say about older models. In addition, older cars and wiring are appropriate, so that the risk of fire significantly increases. You understand that the electric pre-engine heater (220V or so) is permissible only for more or less new cars. We remind you that in severe frosts it may very well happen that even a powerful battery can not withstand the load.

Real (and sad) stories tell how car owners not only stayed with a cold engine and salon, but they could not even start. Before the morning visit to work - not the best situation.

Features of new versions

In new models there is even a plug-in GSM-module (modem). You can call the heater, talk to the auto-programmable answering machine to set the time the device turns on and off. In addition, you can request the status of the device by "talking" with him on the phone. And further. If something happened and the heater does not start, it can automatically send an error code to your phone. In principle, a similar option has the preheater heater engine "Teplostar."

Financial matters and other

Judging by the responses of car owners, all functions work. Control of the heater with their help is greatly simplified: without even seeing your car from the window of the house, you can know exactly about its condition. That's what "Binary 5" is good for. Installation of it, according to the owners of cars, also inspires optimism, including financial indicators. By the way, how much is all this joy? How much will the pre-start heater for the Binar engine cost the family budget? Its price is very, very democratic.

On average, the cost of the kit is about 22 thousand rubles. Another ten (on average) have to be given for work. A lot of? For a much more "sour" "Webasto" you have to pay about 60 thousand, and even thousands of 20 will be asked for installation.

Winter comfort

It is important that even if the engine is not working, you can start "Binar" for heating the cabin. Such an option was once at the famous cars "ZAZ". Keep in mind that the old drivers categorically do not recommend heating the car, which at that time is in the garage. The fact is that the exhaust pipe of the heater is too close to the cabin, so you have every chance of breathing in CO (carbon monoxide). On the street, there are no such problems, so after installing the "Binara" you will be much more comfortable to wait for passengers in the winter.

Note that up to a temperature of 75 degrees Celsius, the engine warms up in about 20 minutes (the cycle of operation is 20-120 minutes), but in conditions of especially low temperatures this time may slightly increase. Motorists also testify that it is possible at any time to manually start or stop the stand-alone Binar heater, which is especially valuable in the salon mode.

By the way, the command to turn on the salon fan is only given when the coolant reaches a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.

Advantages over foreign counterparts

Many users believe that the domestic heater (oddly enough) is much better than the German "Webasto" / "Hydronika". Manufacturers of these devices like to "trump" a long history of the company, but few people want to pay for the brand with some absurd money. Here that it is possible to find out, having esteemed responses of motorists:

  • In any frosts, the control panel (since it is not liquid crystal) does not freeze, all information from it is comfortably read (similarly the preheating heater of the "Teplostar" engine behaves similarly).

  • In addition, the device in real time shows the temperature to which antifreeze has warmed ("Webasto" is deprived of this possibility). In the morning, it's easy to look at the device's reading right from home, figuring out when it's time to go out.

  • As we already said, it can show the error code in case of its occurrence. Decoding of all possible options is available in the staff manual. Again, the expensive "Webasto" has no such option at all.

  • The control panel is already attached to the purchased kit. Manufacturers of many foreign heaters are not so generous, and therefore it has to be bought separately.

  • "Binar" is very reliable, cases of failures are extremely rare. "Webasto" very often buggy, especially in extremely cold temperatures. In a word, our equipment is much better adapted to severe climatic conditions: even a pre-engine heater KAMAZ from this company copes with its work even in the North.

  • There are models only for 5 kW. In principle, what will you do with a 4 kW heater in some particularly cold winter? In the end, before the European winters we are far away.

  • Finally, "Webasto" costs four times as much, which is especially noticeable in the current conditions.

That's what the reviews say. Pre-engine heater engine "Binar", thus, is a really profitable acquisition.

Can I connect it myself?

Firstly, we immediately note that it is better not to engage in such work in any case by providing them to the service employees. Secondly, in free sale you simply will not find "Binar 5D". The instruction does not presuppose its self-installation, and therefore the device goes directly to the authorized centers.

However, if you still want to feel like a master of all trades, there is a way out. But for this, all equipment will have to be purchased directly from the manufacturer. If the complexity does not frighten you, then you can get down to business, getting a high-quality and inexpensive (only the cost of the device) heating. "Binar" does not differ in space complexity, so anyone who has at least minimal experience in locksmith work in the automotive industry will be able to cope with the work.

Basic principles of installation

First of all, let's look at the basic principles that should be followed during the installation:

  • All components of the system should be placed as compactly as possible. We must strive that they do not "run up" through the interior space.

  • The length of the hoses for the coolant is minimal.

  • After selecting a location, you need to crash into the electrical wiring of the alarm (if there is one).

  • It should be responsible for the installation of wires: they should not be located with the risk of rubbing.

  • Control all phases of work two times. As such, the heater is quite dangerous in terms of fires (with improper installation).

Finally, before starting work, you must always disconnect the battery, in order to avoid any trouble.

What tools will be required?

So, what do we need to mount Binar 5D? The instruction provides the following:

  • First, you need keys for 8 (most likely, you need to dismantle the gasoline pump), as well as 10 and 14 (it is advisable to find out in advance what the fuel tank in your car is attached to).

  • Important! The keys for 10 will require at least a couple of pieces, as well as one for 12 and 13 (required for the fuel pick-up "Binar").

  • Also need drills of 2mm, 4mm, 7mm (these are needed for the holes for the mounting screws), and also for 8.5mm (it will be required to drill the cover of the gasoline pump).

Of course, the installation of the engine preheater is unthinkable without a hammer and core, pliers (irreplaceable when removing the standard clamps), as well as side cutters. For other works, you need a soldering iron (at least 60W power), since during operation you need to solder sufficiently thick wires, as well as solder and rosin in sufficient quantities. Do not forget about screwdrivers of all kinds, a good shoe knife (for cutting the fuel pipe hoses), screeds and tape, as well as several metal strips (width 19-21mm, thickness 3-4mm).

A drill is required, a welding machine is desirable (but possible without it), as well as an ESM. Again, you can do without the "Bulgarians", but it's much easier to work with.

Getting Started

So, how to install the "Binar 5B Compact" (or a similar model)? First, unscrew the plastic stop on the rear axle. Clamps for ventilation and fuel hose neatly clean. Nuts of a gasoline tank we disconnect, then we disconnect a socket of the gasoline pump.

After that it is possible to disconnect the fuel line connectors (red, white and green). Most often in the performance of this work, a little gasoline is spilled, but there is nothing to worry about. To work it was easier, under the tank in advance it is better to put an emphasis of the required height. After that, we unscrew the nuts holding it and remove the fuel tank. Around the gasoline pump, its surface is carefully and carefully cleaned from all existing contaminants.

After that, disconnect all the connectors, and then unscrew its cover and completely remove it. The remaining hole must be plugged with an oil rag. So, where to "stick" "Binar". Installation continues with the correct preparation of the fuel supply system.

Installing the fuel intake

Drill the cover of the gasoline pump. Most modern machines have this lid - cellular, with ribs of rigidity. So that when drilling it does not crack, start with the smallest drill, gradually widening the diameter of the hole. Chamfer on the hole must be completely removed, after which carefully clean the gasoline pump from sawdust.

As a rule, the fuel intake has to be bent even on the "Binar 5B Compact", since otherwise it will not be possible to insert it into the resulting hole. Bend it in such a way that the lowest part of the fuel intake is not far from the bottom of the gas tank. Do not forget that the lower part of the gasoline pump should not lose the ability to move up and down.

After that, we lower the latter into the gas tank, and gently let the fuel intake into the existing gap. For sure it will be uncomfortable, so you can try to bend his nose at an angle of about 45 degrees. The joint is carefully lubricated with sealant, after which the fixing nuts are tightened. Of course, the excess sealant must be completely removed. In advance, we measure the required cable length for the gasoline pump. Greed and leave unnecessary is not worth it. After that, mount the connector, in no case forgetting about its compaction.

It can cause a lot of questions unless the need to attach a heater gasoline pump somewhere. To solve this problem, it is best to make the simplest bracket (that's what metal strips and USMs will be useful for). It's time to mount the fuel line for the device. To stack it better in corrugation of a suitable diameter, as in this case the security is increased, which in this case is important.

In particular, if you plan to mount the KAMAZ engine preheater, three times check all cables and hoses so that they do not exactly interrupt when installing the cab in place.

Other stages of work

After this, drain the cooling liquid, and for that purpose it is highly desirable to use a capacity of sufficient volume, with a wide, comfortable throat. Note that the process itself can not be called fast, since the mixture will flow out slowly, in a thin trickle.

At this time, you must remove the air intake, remove the air filter cover, loosen the connector and remove the clamp, first loosening its clamp. After completing these operations, you can clean the air filter itself. To remove its pallet, it is necessary to do the following: unscrew the bolt, and then gradually pull, simultaneously shaking and making twisting movements. To obtain sufficient space for mounting the boiler directly, it is best to remove the expansion tank. Of course, installing the engine preheater on this is still far from complete.

Residual installation

After that, we try to collect all the components of the system together. It is very important to immediately check and make sure that nothing is interfering with each other and does not cling to each other. In addition, on the exhaust pipe of the heater, do not forget to stretch a sufficient layer of normal thermal insulation material. In general, this part needs to be mounted on separate brackets fixed to the frame.

After that you can start working with wires. We estimate the necessary length, solder and cut. To the salon stub, you need to bring out two sets of them: the wire from the instrument control panel, as well as from the "climate" relay and the wire for remote start of the "Binar" device. Installation in the engine compartment is almost complete. All the fuse blocks are carefully assembled together and compactly mounted. The fuel line and the main "tourniquet" are secured with ties on the engine.

Finally, you can check how well we connected the heater to the cooling system of the car engine. To begin with, we join all the previously prepared connectors. We install the heater fuel line. Be sure (several times) to check the tightening of the clamps. Mount the expansion tank and air filter, and then pour the coolant.

Start the car and warm up the engine for about half an hour. In order to fully drive out the air jams, we bring the speed up to 2.5 thousand revolutions. Once again we check the system for leaks, the engine is muffled. After that, you can start salon work.

Salon works

We draw your attention to the fact that before this it is necessary to completely de-energize the machine by removing the terminals from the battery! After that, remove the panel, remove the fuses. Rubber caps, which do not want to yield, can simply be punctured with a thin awl and poddet. We stretch the harnesses into the interior, which were taken out after the engine.

"Climate"

We proceed to install the control panel. It is necessary to deal with climate control. We remove the fuse cover, dismantle the side, we find a thick red wire. In order not to get confused later, it's best to use plastic ties. You have to connect to the gap between the same cable and the 7.5A "RR S / WARMER (DRV) ESPS & A / CON" fuse (can vary, depending on the model and manufacturer). Carefully read the instructions for your car!

In general, this installation "Binar" 5B Compact is almost complete, as there are only "cosmetic" work and some manipulations with the setting.

Final work

We set the boiler control unit to the "HI" position and set the maximum speed. We carefully inspect the boiler fuse block. Plus from the boiler connect to the battery. We throw a minus terminal ... we see how the "Binara" console animates in the cabin. We click on the middle button of the button: right after that, the boiler should start working and its fuel pump snap into place. Immediately after this, the remote will give out a "13th error", which indicates that no fuel has been supplied to the boiler.

Do not stumble: turn on again, we get a steady start. After the temperature of the boiler approaches 40 degrees Celsius, the climate control will turn on. After the warm air goes into the interior, the boiler can be switched off. We collect the electrician and the fuse blocks, we try to start the construction with signaling. If everything went well, you can safely congratulate yourself: the installation of the engine preheater has been completed.
