What it is?

Simply put, this is a special stove, which is the basis of the whole house. Such a powerful and durable foundation leaves far behind all other types of foundations, which are most often used by builders in our country.

There are ribbed and flat plates. The advantage of the former is that they reliably protect the building from the negative impact of unstable soils. Since the process of filling them is very laborious, they first make ribs.

What is the difference between a ribbed plate?

Structurally, this shape resembles a ready-made strip foundation with a number of jumpers. Such a tape monolithic foundation, made by hand, is good in that it has increased stability (if compared with a conventional plate). The ribbed type is recommended to be installed in those cases when the geodesy showed insufficient density of soils.

Getting Started

Everything begins with a thorough preparation of the foundation. The plot must be carefully aligned as much as possible. All hemp, large boulders and other debris are removed, after which we begin marking.

The pit is excavated, the depth of which should be at least 0.3 m. Geotextiles are placed in it, the density of the material being not less than 200 g / m2. We remind you that it is needed not so much to keep a pillow of gravel and sand, as much as to remove excess moisture.

Drainage system

If you fill the monolithic foundation with your own hands in an excessively marshy or rainy terrain, you need to take care of digging out at least two trunk trenches. Like the main pit, they are covered with geotextiles. After it, drainage pipes are laid in a trench and they are covered with rubble. It is best to use plastic drainage, as it has increased durability. The foundation made with its help is a monolithic slab. With your own hands, you create something that will not last a dozen years.

Which concrete to use?

Experts say that it is preferable to use concrete grade "M450". However, in the domestic construction industry there are often situations when lower quality material is brought to the site. Nevertheless, "M350" will serve as a fill for nothing worse.

After that, pour the first 20 cm of concrete. As soon as it slightly withers, the armature is laid on it and connected with it. Next, they carefully fill the formwork with concrete. Each layer is rammed using automatic or manual ramers for this purpose. The process is stopped when "milk" appears on the surface of the concrete.

Before you make a monolithic foundation with your own hands, it's better to take care of buying an automatic device, because manually doing it is quite difficult. Fill the concrete to the lower level of the cap, again put the reinforcement. It is also reliably connected with wire, poured another layer of concrete. It will freeze for about a month. If the weather is hot, then the concrete from time to time must be moistened with water.
