To do something with one's own hands is not only a way to create an exclusive thing for your home, but also an opportunity to start making money on it. Today we will try to make a beautiful element of decor - a wall clock in the style of Provence - with our own hands.

What is the style of Provence? His homeland is France, because everything associated with it will remotely resemble a country style or a provence that are similar. This style is based on simplicity and natural beauty: dried flowers, images of landscapes, still lifes, natural elements of decor, for example, wooden beads - all this speaks about the Provence.

What do we need?

To make a wall clock in the style of Provence, we need:

  • The basis for the clock. It is advisable to choose a wooden base, however you can use any other convenient material.
  • Acrylic lacquer for surface coating.
  • Sandpaper to remove unevenness.
  • A drawing, a photo or any image printed on paper that will be glued to the substrate.
  • Paint under the color of the image.
  • Glue (PVA and superglue).
  • Elements of decoration (ribbons, beads, herbarium, etc.).
  • Clockwork.

Armed with all the necessary, get down to work.

First step. Work with the base

We will look at the wall clock in the style of Provence using a wooden base, as it is comfortable, reliable, and also corresponds to the very style of design.

  1. Let's take our base. Please note that it should have a hole for the hands and the mechanism. It can be done with a drill or a ready base for a watch.
  2. Carefully sand the surface to eliminate any irregularities.
  3. Now it is necessary to cover the tree with two layers of varnish. Each layer is carefully dried, after which carefully we go through the varnish with sandpaper to level the surface.

Now put the foundation aside and go to work with the picture.

Second phase. Processing a photo or picture

You can choose any photo you like. But since we make a wall clock in the style of Provence, it is necessary that the picture correspond to the canons of this style. Give preference to soft colors: pink, blue, light yellow, green and other pastel tones.

  1. Take our picture and cut it out in accordance with the shape of the base.
  2. The picture needs to be covered with several layers of varnish (2 or 3 will be enough). The layers should not be too thick, so that after application they do not crack. Each layer is carefully dried and sanded.
  3. Now we use the PVA glue. On the back of the photo, we apply a thick layer of glue and apply an image to the substrate.
  4. Carefully smooth the surface, we expel air bubbles, eliminate excess glue. You need to work very carefully, because there is a risk of damaging the photo.
  5. Again, use sandpaper. We need the edges of the photo and the base to be as equal as possible, so we gently rub the edges.
  6. Now we again need to work with the foundation. Using paints, fill the empty space on a wooden base under the color of the photo.
  7. When the colors dry, cover our wall clock in the style of Provence with varnish completely, capturing not only the photo, but also the base. It is enough 2-3 layers of varnish.
  8. It is required to dry each layer for 30-40 minutes. After applying the last layer, allow the work to dry for several hours.

It remains to finish the finishing touches.

The final stage. Decoration

We almost finished our wall clock in the style of Provence. The photo should be bright due to the varnish and completely solid. Having convinced of this, we will proceed to completion.

  1. Take superglue and our elements for decoration. Turn on your imagination! Glue beads, herbarium and other cute little things as you wish. Do not forget to paste the numbers. Allow the work to dry thoroughly.
  2. The last step is inserting the clockwork and launching our clock. Done!

Now you can hang our creation in the most prominent place in the room - this beauty should be in sight!
