Vole is a mouse distributed everywhere

Any gardener and just a man who likes to dig in his dacha, is aware of the fact that in his garden or garden there are many mice. One of them is the voles. This mouse is spread all over the world, and still continues to surprise scientists with certain features of their behavior.

Similar to moles in this respect, they dig deep holes. But unlike them, at the voles the entrance to the dwelling is on the side, in the dump of the earth. In addition, the mounds themselves are much more gently sloping.

Among other things, all their moves have several inputs and outputs at once. One move alone can reach 25-30 meters, settling down to a depth of 0.4 m.

There are numerous nesting chambers in which the vole is breeding offspring. This mouse is so prolific that, in especially good seasons, it infests fields.

And no wonder: in a good year for her, one female displays eight litters, each of which has six cubs! Simple calculation: if there are not enough predators, then out of five voles can result in 8,5 thousand adult mice. And this is for the season! As you can see, the vole is a mouse prone to rapid reproduction.

The whole day she spends in her hiding, venturing to come to the surface only in the evening. By the way, what does the mouse feed on? She feeds mainly vegetable food, causing real hatred among agricultural producers. The colony of these rodents causes huge damage to the fields, eating a few tons of high-quality grain per year!

It should be noted that these mice are real "gourmets" who will never drag a bad feed into their hole. Often find pantries of these animals, which are stored up to several kilograms of quality-selected grain of wheat, rye and oats.

The peculiarity of voles is not only in rapid metabolism (as in other rodents), but also in the rapid growth of teeth: in order to drain them, the animal must constantly eat something. For a day, only a small animal eats feed, whose weight is equal to its own weight.

Any voles is a mouse, which is especially "liked" by gardeners. The fact is that they are active even in winter. Needing a stern, the voles completely clean the lower parts of tree trunks, which makes them simply die.

To distinguish this animal from an ordinary gray mouse is simple: it has a much more pleasant color and a short tail. Especially dangerous for voles, prolonged rains, as well as sudden and severe winter thaw. Nora pours, in winter the water in them freezes, depriving rodents of food, shelter and heat.

The population of birds of prey is very important in regulating their numbers . The average owl can eat up to one and a half thousand voles in one year only. All foxes, martens, ferrets and caresses generally prefer to eat only them. Weasel, for example, can eat up to 20 well-fed mice in one day. In addition, the cuni can make their way directly to their burrows, as the body structure allows them to wade through long and narrow tunnels.

Note that as a result of the rash application of pesticides and mouse poisons perish, but not all. Poisoned, they are eaten by owls and predatory mammals, the mortality of which is just as high as 100%.

As a result, surviving mice in just a couple of months increase their number in dozens of times. The result - a real environmental disaster, the responsibility for which is not the mouse vole (photo of which is in the article), but the person.
