Visa to Mongolia

To visit Mongolia, Russian citizens need to obtain a visa. A visa to Mongolia is issued in advance at the consular department of the Mongolian Embassy in Moscow. You can also apply for a visa at one of the general consulates in Kyzyl, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude or in Yekaterinburg in the honorary consulate.

Visas to Mongolia can be issued in the following categories:

  1. Tourist visa "J" - a visit to Mongolia with a tourist purpose.
  2. Business visa "B" - a visit to Mongolia for business purposes: at the invitation of public, commercial or government organizations of Mongolia.
  3. Private visa "H" or guest - visiting friends or relatives-citizens of Mongolia.
  4. Transit visa - crossing the territory of Mongolia to another country.

If the applicant does not have an invitation from the citizens of Mongolia, he must obtain an entry visa. Such a visa to Mongolia is issued for a two-week period and is not subject to extension. To leave the country, an additional exit visa must be issued in Ulaanbaatar.

Documents required for the registration of a Mongolian visa in the consular section:

  • A foreign passport with a validity period of not less than six months;
  • Color photography 3,6 * 4,7 cm;
  • A copy of the page of the foreign passport with the applicant's data;

  • Completed questionnaire with the signature of the applicant;
  • A certificate from the work with the indication of the position, working experience, certified by the stamp and signature of the head;

When transferring from one international flight to another within 24 hours, a visa to Mongolia is not required, but only if you do not plan to travel outside the transit zone. To confirm a further flight, you must have tickets and a visa to the country of destination, if required.

Tourist visa to Mongolia is issued for a period of three months from the date of issue. For such a visa in the country can be no more than thirty days. Transit visas give the right to stay in the country for two or three days.

If desired, the tourist visa can be extended for another thirty days. To do this, you need to apply to the agency of the Ministry of the Interior of Mongolia at least seven days before the end of the validity period of an already existing visa. The applicant must submit a questionnaire filled in English, Mongolian or Russian, a photograph, a copy of the passport with a valid visa and personal data. It is also necessary to write a statement and explain the reason why the trip to Mongolia is delayed.

For residents of the Russian regions bordering with Mongolia, there is a simplified procedure for entering the country. They can cross the border only if they have a foreign passport, an internal passport with a residence permit and an identity card entitling them to cross the border once.

Upon arrival in Mongolia, foreigners must register with the local police station. To travel to Mongolia for tourism purposes, it is also necessary to submit an insurance policy and an invitation from a tour operator registered in Mongolia.

Citizens of Ukraine, the USA, Israel, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore can visit Mongolia without a visa.
