Types of weapons. What is a lethal weapon.

The whole history of mankind is inextricably linked with the emergence and continuous improvement of the means of armed struggle. In ancient times man fought for survival with nature, a little later - with representatives of his own ethnos.

What kind of weapons are there. Types of lethal weapons

It is customary to divide into lethal and non-lethal. What is a lethal weapon? This weapon is designed to destroy the enemy. To lethal means include:

- Melee weapons. It's a gunshot and a cold one.

- Weapons of mass destruction (WMD). It includes chemical, nuclear and bacteriological.

Consequences of the use of lethal weapons

The past two world wars in the 20th century clearly showed what a lethal weapon is. Only from firearms in the First World War killed About 10 million servicemen. The Second World War was conducted with more sophisticated weapons and killed 27 million soldiers and officers. At the end of the war, they learned what lethal weapons are, civilians in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Within a few minutes, both cities were destroyed by the most barbarous weapon of that time - atomic bombs. More than 220,000 inhabitants died. Fortunately, nuclear weapons have never been used for military purposes. But new types of nuclear weapons were created, many times greater than the first atomic bombs.

Non-lethal weapons

Progress in the development of modern technology, the humanization of society have a significant impact on the ways of conducting armed struggle. The opposing sides are increasingly trying to minimize damage to the civilian population and the natural environment. Scientists and designers of developed countries give more and more efforts and attention to the development of non-lethal (non-lethal) weapons.

Non-lethal weapons, often called humane, are designed to disable the enemy for a certain time without causing special harm to health. This type of weapon is a complex of means, the principle of which is based on mechanical, electrical, chemical and light and sound effects.

Non-lethal weapons are used in cases where it is necessary to minimize the number of possible victims.

Another direction of development of non-lethal weapons is the development of devices that violate the functioning of individual units of military equipment. For example, with the help of such devices it is possible to change fuel characteristics, viscosity of oils and greases, strength of wheels, gaskets, hoses, cause insulation breakdown, etc.

Work is underway on samples of weapons, which are based on the phenomenon of adhesion. They are able to firmly seal tank hatches, car doors, wheels, caterpillars of military equipment.

Perspective types of non-lethal weapons

With the help of the latest systems based on different physical principles, it became possible to selectively disable the most important elements of the combat control system.

Experts believe that in the near future a serious threat will be represented by the following types of non-lethal weapons:

- Radiation;

- Radiological;

- radio frequency;

- infrasonic;

- geophysical.

Precision Weapons

High-precision lethal weapons are a set of devices that can hit the target from the first shot within its reach.

High-precision weapons are:

- surface, air and ship-based missile systems;

- Airborne guided bombs;

- artillery guided weapons;

- guided mines and torpedoes:

- Separate types of small arms.

High accuracy of target damage is achieved by controlling the ammunition on the entire flight path. High-precision weapons automatically search for the target and solve the problem of overcoming the countermeasures systems designed to destroy the guided ammunition. The combat task is solved by setting active and passive jamming, performing complex maneuvers, an extremely secretive approach to the goal, performing a group attack.

New Russian weapons

In the Soviet Union, military production was created, capable of producing any type of weapons and military equipment. From the middle of the twentieth century, the Soviet, and then the Russian army was provided only with domestic weapons and military equipment. Our country is a recognized leader in creating unique models of modern weapons.

The newest Russian armament is supplied to dozens of countries in the world community. The S-300 and S-400 air defense systems have no analogues in the world, the Topol-M and Yars missile systems outpaced their time. The foreign experts began talking about the revolution in tank building after acquaintance with the T-14 "Armata" tank, the Kalashnikov assault rifle is considered to be the standard of reliability.

Russian gunsmiths are confident in the future. What are lethal weapons, they demonstrate their best developments.
