Treatment of liver cancer in Israel

To date, people suffering from various cancers, in particular liver cancer, are leaving for treatment abroad. At the same time, they often make their choice based on the information provided to them by intermediary firms. Often these are simply promises "to do everything in the best possible way." But how is it actually treated liver cancer in Israel?

First, let's look at what is liver cancer. In this disease, a malignant tumor develops in the tissues of the organ, preventing it from functioning normally.

The causes of liver cancer can be:

  • Chronic forms of hepatitis (B, C, D), as well as their combinations;
  • The gender factor - mainly male liver cancer;
  • Cirrhosis of the liver, which developed as a result of chronic alcoholic hepatitis;
  • Afloxitone is a poison that is a product of the life of aspergillus fungi, which are found in meat of domestic animals and wheat;
  • Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease in which the level of absorption of iron in the intestine is increased.

Of course, in order to start treatment in Israel, you need to undergo a course of diagnosis, thanks to which the doctor will receive the necessary information about the type of disease and the characteristics of the patient's body. The diagnostic course may include:

  1. Various laboratory studies;
  2. Conduction of ultrasound to detect an increase in lymph nodes, ascites and neoplasms;
  3. Histological and cytological studies of a tumor sample obtained by fine needle biopsy;
  4. Selective goals - allows you to accurately determine the location of the tumor;
  5. Radioisotope scanning for the detection of cold foci of the disease;
  6. Magnetic resonance imaging;
  7. Abdominal opening (diagnostic laparotomy) is performed in especially difficult cases.

Directly treating liver cancer in Israel depends on the results of diagnosis. Since this disease requires an integrated approach, doctors work with the patient specializing in such areas of medicine as oncology, hepatology and gastroenterology. In addition, several therapeutic techniques are often used to ensure the effectiveness of treatment.

Surgical methods in the treatment of liver cancer are basic. Nevertheless, the operation is possible only if the tumor has a clear localization. Accordingly, there are a number of contraindications, because of which the operation can be impossible:

  • Large tumor size;
  • Severe form of cirrhosis;
  • Special location of the tumor focus;
  • Distribution of malignant formations beyond the body.

It should be noted that liver tissue has increased regeneration, which undoubtedly affects the surgical procedures used, but if the organ is affected by cirrhosis, the removed parts will not be restored.

The most dangerous postoperative complication is hepatic insufficiency. There is also the possibility of infection, bleeding, deep vein thrombosis, leakage of bile, jaundice or a heart attack.

Methods of surgical treatment of liver cancer in Israel are:

  • Liver transplantation ;
  • Lobectomy - removal of the liver;
  • Gemigepatektomiya - removal of half of the liver.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are also used.

Chemotherapy is used to reduce the size of the tumor, before surgery or as a palliative treatment, or after surgery to remove the remaining cancer cells.

In addition, biotherapeutic drugs can be used, namely Sorafenib, which allows to stop the growth of the tumor thereby prolonging the life of the patient.

Radiation therapy for liver cancer is rarely used, because this body can not cope with strong irradiation. However, it is possible to destroy tumor tissues with the help of "Cyber knife" (radiosurgical method of influencing the tumor with a narrow focused beam of ionizing radiation).
