The Socialist-Revolutionary Party is a member of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party

The Socialist-Revolutionary Party is a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, which was established in 1902. It consisted of several underground groups, which included former members of the Narodnaya Volya, which was defeated in 1881.

Activities

Throughout the revolution of 1905-1907, the SRs engaged in terror, defending the interests of the petty bourgeoisie. During this time they committed 263 major terrorist attacks, which resulted in the death of many people. Only from the officials 7 generals, 2 ministers and 33 governors were injured. During this period, the party numbered about 63,000 people, and the total number of Social Democrats was about 150,000.

Views

The SRs from the very beginning of their political trend believed that Russia was very different from Western Europe. Consequently, their vision for change and a direct road to socialism differed from what was happening in the west. A typical Social Revolutionary is a revolutionary whose views were largely borrowed from the Narodniks, the direct predecessors of the movement. However, history showed them that the social ideas that underlay the party program are absolutely not suitable for making the right decision in the period of the revolutionary catastrophe. This awareness led to the fact that during the period from February to October 1917 the representatives of the movement moved away from their main program provisions and decided to become allies of the liberal bourgeois forces.

1917

Soon after the February Revolution, the party members decided to agree with the political line of the Mensheviks, during this period the group that was known as the "Left Socialist-Revolutionaries" separated. This, according to the revolutionaries, meant: they support the idea that Russia and its government are not yet ready for a serious socialist revolution. That is, their main goal was to strengthen the bourgeois Provisional Government.

This led to the fact that representatives of the party became part of the government system. This was reflected in the fact that the Social Revolutionaries began supporting the decision to continue the war, which in turn affected the land issue, which remained unresolved until the end of the confrontation, that is, until the moment when the soldiers returned from the front. During this period the Bolsheviks, on the contrary, decided to include the main views of the Socialist-Revolutionaries in their political program.

The Bolshevik VS Eser

This fact, however, did not change the fact that the parties were radically different from each other, since the Bolsheviks had more innovative views. That is why they were able to master a new picture of the world that developed during the most recent events. The Bolsheviks did not intend to obey the dogmas of Marxism and managed to become part of a people that adequately represented its interests.

The Bolsheviks succeeded in carrying out their revolutionary program much more organically than the right-wing Socialist-Revolutionary heirs of the Narodniks were able to do. This was the result of the fact that the Marxists realized the revolution bypassing the stage of capitalist development. After that, the Socialist-Revolutionaries decided to no longer take such an active part in politics and recognized the political power of the Mensheviks.

Soon the people turned away from those who bore the proud title of "SR". This was due to the defensive course of the party. Its representatives advocated the continuation of the war and supported the bourgeoisie, which in no way raised their authority in the eyes of the people.

The Party of Socialist-Revolutionaries was an important stage in the development of the revolutionary movement in Russia. Without it, the revolution would be more problematic and could lead to completely different consequences, which would undoubtedly affect the current state of affairs and the role of Russia in the international political arena.
