Colitis is a group of diseases of the large intestine, associated with inflammatory processes of the mucous membrane. Colitis has different causes and mechanisms of development. They can affect the entire large intestine or any of its departments. Treatment of colitis is a rather complex and lengthy process.

Colitis can be caused by various infections, malnutrition, constipation, parasitic invasions, allergies, poisonings and other causes. It can develop against a background of diseases such as pancreatitis, cholecystitis, gastritis, appendicitis. Often the disease occurs due to functional changes in the intestines after the transferred disinfection. The most common form of colitis is infectious. It causes pathogenic microorganisms, such as: streptococci, salmonella, staphylococcus and others.

Acute colitis has severe symptoms: fever, general malaise, severe abdominal pain, swelling, nausea, alternating diarrhea with constipation, mucus and blood in the stool. In acute colitis often develop inflammation of the small intestine and gastritis.

The chronic form of the disease develops as a result of an incomplete acute colitis. Acute periods are followed by periods of remission.

Ulcerative colitis is characterized by the fact that the inflammatory processes of the mucous thick kishenik pass with the formation of ulcers on its walls.

With ischemic colitis inflammation of the mucosa is associated with poor blood supply to its wall.

Treatment of colitis should be timely, as it is fraught with complications such as peritonitis, bleeding, intestinal obstruction associated with the appearance of scars and adhesions. The disease is one of the hard-to-treat.

Particular importance is nutrition in colitis. In the acute period, the first two days are recommended complete refusal to eat. With this disease you need a gentle diet, rich in all the necessary elements for the normal functioning of the kitten. You need to eat 4-6 times a day. Food should not be dry and hard and irritate the mucous. Cooking should be steamed or boiled. The products are caloric, but easily digestible. Vegetable food must be heat treated. In the diet must be present protein. It is recommended to drink mineral water, for example "Essentuki 17".

In different types and stages of the disease, a different diet is prescribed. Chronic colitis requires a complete rejection of sweets and baked goods, spicy foods, coffee, fresh bread, fried and fatty foods, cold and hot, spices and spices. Dairy products and animal fats should be restricted.

Treatment of colitis with traditional methods is supplemented by various traditional medicine.

Chamomile and a thousand square. Take a teaspoon of these herbs and pour a glass of boiling water. Drink 7-8 times a day for a tablespoon for three months.

Enemas. In acute form, the treatment of colitis with enemas is used. It can be a honey-daisy or starch enema. To prepare a starch enema take 5 grams of starch, dilute half a glass of cold water, stir, gradually pour half a cup of boiling water, cool to 40 degrees and use as directed.

For an enema of chamomile and honey you need to take a tablespoon of chamomile flowers and pour a glass of boiling water, chill, add a teaspoon of honey. Enter 50 ml of solution into the rectum.

Walnut. Within three months, eat several walnut kernels between meals - no more than 70 grams.

Kalina. Colitis tea helps with calina. To make a drink you need to take a tablespoon of berries, pour a glass of boiling water, let it brew and strain. Drink four times a day for the fourth part of the glass 30 minutes before eating.

St. John's Wort. The plant has long been used in colitis in the form of decoctions and infusions, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and astringent effect. Crushed grass (2 tablespoons) pour steep boiling water (1 glass), insist for about three hours. Drink before meals (30 minutes) three times a day for half a cup.

Treatment of chronic colitis necessarily includes restorative procedures and therapeutic exercise.
