Toning "chameleon"

The year 2014 was characterized by a rare phenomenon - the appearance of an absolutely new product in the market of window tinting services - the athermal tint film "chameleon" (in the people "tinting the mystic"), which after gluing gives the windows of the car a pleasant violet-green-blue-pink shade and athermal effect. Finally, the car owners had the opportunity, without violating the requirements of the legislation, to tint all the car's glasses, including the wind and front side windows.

Advantages of a new film

In addition to the pleasant appearance , toning "chameleon" protects the car interior from the exhausting heat (some sellers claim that 90% of the heat is cut off, but in practice 40-50% is noticed), thereby reducing the load on the air conditioner and saving fuel.

But, more importantly, tinting glasses with "chameleon" film cuts out UV rays of both types (A and B), which lead to skin cancer. The researchers argue that the average driver for a year spends at least 170 hours behind the wheel. Uninformed people argue that the glass delays all the UV rays. In fact, glass retards about 90% of the rays and only A-type. The remaining 10% of B-type beams are more than enough for a newspaper lying on a windowsill to turn yellow during one summer season and become fragile, although the glass unit contains 2-3 glasses in its construction. If you compare the film "chameleon", glued on the glass with sunscreen, then to protect against UV rays, it corresponds to sunscreen more than 200 units. On the beach, no one neglects sun protection, it's logical and in a car to protect yourself.

Due to the fact that the thickness and strength characteristics of this film are high enough, it can be confidently asserted that during the accident and when trying to break the car glass, the fragments will not fill you and your loved ones.

Toning "chameleon" and traffic police

For tinting, which does not comply with the accepted norms, punishes part 3.1. Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The disposition of this article directly refers to the violation of the requirements of the technical regulations on the safety of wheeled vehicles approved by the Russian Government Resolution No. 720 of 10.09.2009, that is, by measuring the light transmittance of glasses, the traffic police officer is guided by the technical regulations, namely item 3.5.2 . Appendix No. 5 to the Technical Regulations. In this paragraph it is said that the light transmission of the windshield, front side windows and front doors (if any) should be at least 70%. In addition, the instrument for measuring light transmittance has an error of 2%, i.e. Before gluing the film "chameleon" you need to make sure that the glass with the glued film is passed at least 68%.

To ensure that the atermal toning of the chameleon meets the requirements of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, it must be correctly selected: for "white" glasses, use a film not darker than 80%, for "bottle" glasses not darker than 90%. In order to know for sure whether the film "chameleon" passes on these or other glasses, it is necessary to conduct a test with a special device. For example, the light transmission of the Renault Sandero windscreen with 80% glued film will be within the norm, and 90% will be glued on the front side panels. All Lifan Solano glasses can be glued with a chameleon toning of 80% and not be afraid of fines.

Light transmission of the rear of the car is not standardized, and it can be toned with any "chameleon" film. Due to the fact that the film is darker than 60% light transmittance has some mirror effect, it is more logical to stick a light film on the back part, and already on top of it to install a removable tint or frame curtains that can be dismantled at any time. For example, to pass a technical inspection (in some regions of Russia there are problems with passing the TO on a car with mirror glasses) or go to neighboring countries (European countries, Azerbaijan and others), where the standards for light transmission of glasses differ from the requirements of the technical regulations of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Russian Federation.

Work with the film "chameleon"

The peculiarity of tinting with such a film is that it (especially 90%) is quite difficult to thermally shape. If this film is overheated in any place, then a change in its color is observed. In this regard, it is recommended to contact highly qualified professionals, because only they can qualitatively shade the car with a film of chameleon. In addition, on this film it is almost impossible to hide flaws in work: dust, slices, nap - all this will be perfectly visible after gluing. In order to properly shape such a film, it is recommended to apply this method: raise the edge of the film and, slightly pulling it back, evenly heat it as much as possible to use the entire film's ability to heat shrinkage. Even more advanced version of the formation - to bend the edge at an angle of 90 degrees to the surface, then, gradually lowering the film to the glass, to warm it along the entire length. Although the second method requires long training, it allows you to confidently lay the film "chameleon" on almost any glass.

In conclusion, I want to say that the price for such tinting will always be very high. This is due to the fact that the film "chameleon" is a highly technological product and in itself is quite expensive. In addition, professionals who always take good money for their services can work with this class of material.
