There were black beetles in the house - what to do?

Sometimes unpleasant insects appear in living quarters. Almost everyone knows what to do with traditional cockroaches and moths. But what should we do if the mysterious black beetles in the house or apartment are annoyed, why do they appear and what are they banished? If unexpected residents settled, it is necessary to find out whether they are safe for humans and pets.

If black beetles are in the house, then it's time to conduct a spring cleaning. This is due to the fact that any insect needs to eat, and they eat dust, particles of skin, tissue or spilled in the cracks of cereals and flour. On the dark shelves of the closets or in a can of oatmeal, tiny larvae appear, which later can turn into beetles up to 2 cm in size. It should not be frightened, they are representatives of the genus Tenebrio molitor, or simple flour crustaceans. By the way, in different places larger specimens may settle, or Tribolium confusum Duv - small hruschaks. Small representatives have a slightly reddish color, large ones are purely black.

Black beetles in the house - methods of fighting

At an early stage of settlement through the territory of an apartment or house, it will be sufficient to discard the crocheted crocks or carefully wash the containers for storing flour and shelves with detergent. However, nasty black beetles in a wooden house are a big problem, because they can put their larvae in any slot or wall. To free your living area from uninvited guests, you need to make a small work plan:

  1. Mandatory wet cleaning with detergent or manganese.
  2. Inspection of all cereals and flour for infection.
  3. Adoption of special measures to prevent a new wave of insects.

Black beetles in the house appear after 2-3 weeks - this is how much the larval phase of these insects occupies. Therefore, you should not postpone cleaning until there is an opportunity to eliminate still immature insects. Some thrifty housewives are trying to sift the affected flour or rump, but this will not help. The eggs of the hruschaks are so small that they do not linger in the cells of the smallest sieve. And their "flour" color is absolutely indistinguishable from the usual coloring of cereals. In the people of this unexpected guest they call a horseshoe a deceiver. Because of the small size, black beetles in the house easily find refuge. Do not think that if you block access to cereals, insects will not switch to other products.

If there are large representatives of this genus, then you need to be prepared for the fact that they will settle in a bookcase or lay their larvae in dusty, dry corners. For reliable protection of new products they are recommended to be baked in the oven or freeze in the refrigerator for about a day. Cabinets, where the hruschaks lived, are carefully washed with soda and vinegar, and then treated with dichlorvos, after which it is necessary to rinse everything again with a usual detergent. A common folk remedy for such insects is a common clove of garlic, placed in a container with cereal. You can try lavender oil - soaked in it wadded disks are placed on the shelves, but not every mistress wants that semolina smell of tart herb odor. The fight against black beetles is not too complicated, but painstaking enough and does not tolerate disorder.
