Theater of Drama (Tomsk): history, repertoire, troupe

Tomsk Regional Drama Theater is one of the oldest in Siberia. Today in his repertoire are classical works, plays by contemporary playwrights and performances for boys and girls.

History

The theater of drama (Tomsk) was opened in 1850. A special building was built for him. It was wooden. Funds for him donated the mayor of the city, the merchant of the first guild NE Filimonov. Part of the material was collected by subscription. The building stood for 32 years, then fell into disrepair and was sold for firewood. In the 80 years of the 19 century Governor II Krasovsky decided to build a new decent building for the theater. Supported his idea merchant E. Korolev. The building was constructed by the architect P. Naranovich. The new theater opened its doors in 1885. The first performances were "Zateynitsa" and "Guilty Without Guilt". The auditorium of the new theater accommodated up to a thousand spectators. In the repertoire at that time was exclusively a classic. During the revolution, the theater was used for holding rallies, and was soon burnt. During the Second World War, artists were evacuated from the city. After the end of the war, the former front-line theater named after Chkalov joined the troupe of the Tomsk drama, as well as artists from Narymsk. In the 50-60-ies. In the repertoire appeared plays on Siberian themes. The building, in which the theater "lives" now, was built in 1978. At the Tomsk drama there is a museum, where a lot of interesting exhibits, documents, regular tours.

Main director

Alexander Anatolyevich Ogaryov was born in 1961. He graduated from the Voronezh Institute of Arts. Career began as an actor. He worked in different cities. In 1993 he received a directorial education in GITIS. After graduation he worked in the theater "School of Dramatic Art". He held the post of director. He also worked as a teacher with foreign trainees. He was an assistant to his teacher A. Vasiliev in the theater schools in Italy and France. From 2001 to 2013 he was the main director in the Drama Theater of Krasnodar. In 2010 he was the head of the course at GITIS, at the acting faculty. In 2011 he became a laureate of the Golden Mask. In the theater of drama (Tomsk) came to work as the main director in 2014.
