The theater "Benefit" in Moscow appeared in the late 20th century. Initially it was an experimental studio. The repertoire of the theater is small, but it includes performances designed for different age categories, classical and modern plays.

The history of the Moscow "Benefit"

The theater "Benefit" opened its doors in 1986. It was organized by Anna Nerovna. She is today the artistic director of "Benefit". Initially it was an experimental theater studio. Such a lot was created then. The initiative of such experiments was based on the Moscow government. In 1991 the studio received the status of the State Drama Theater. The troupe was allocated a room near the metro station "New Cheryomushki". The building is a classical building of Khrushchev's time. The troupe occupies this building to this day.

The theater "Benefit" on Cheremushki from the very beginning of its creative path led to the tradition of inviting to participation in their productions famous artists from other troupes. At different times in the performances participated: Anna Kamenkova, Eugene Knyazev, Elena Ivochkina, Alexander Simonets, Sergei Kolesnikov, etc.

The stage in the theater is small, the hall is small, which helps the viewer become more involved in the action.

The repertoire of "Benefit" includes performances of different genres: tragicomedies, satirical fantasies, parables, psychological dramas, musical comedies, detectives.

Namesake

The Moscow theater "Benefis" has a namesake in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region. It was founded by Vladimir Nikolaevich Nazarov. Yelets is the homeland of Mikhail Prishvin, Ivan Bunin and Tikhon Khrennikov.

Theater traditions of the city go back to the first half of the 19th century. Even then there was a professional troupe here. In total there were four theaters in Yelets. They all closed at different times. The last of them was in 1948.

The theater "Benefis" was opened in 1993. It was located in a building that was built in 1911. Previously, it housed the city theater, which was closed in 1948.

The troupe takes an active part in various festivals for small cities of Russia. Often, for their performances, artists and directors received diplomas and awards.

Theater "Benefit" (Yelets) is also the organizer of the festival. It was held in 2010 under the title "The smallest and most unknown festival". Yuri Alshits supervised his conduct. The festival was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. It was attended by directors and artists from around the world: Russia, Greece, Italy, Poland, France, Norway, Argentina, England, Sweden, Cyprus, Switzerland, etc.
