The word "pindosy" from where? Why Americans are called Pindos

It's amazing how quickly new words take up a place in our language. Even without really understanding their true meaning, people "grab" for an interesting "term", inserting it wherever you get. Americans are called "pindos". Where did this dubious nickname come from? Where are its roots? And what does it mean? Let's figure it out.

Multiple versions

When people want to understand the name "pindos" (from where it went, how it was born), they come across an abundance of fairly reliable information. It is recommended to consider all versions. The fact is, the nickname is insulting - you understand. A good person is so unlikely to be called. Oh very unpresentable sounds. Yes, and use it for the most part in the network. However, the authors of publications and comments are not particularly interested in why Americans are called pindos. They can be fully understood. It hurt a lot of evil done by the military, denoted by this word. People are more and more interested in why the Pindos behave as if the planet belongs to them? That's scolded by their "international" word. Its almost all peoples understand without translation.

Serbian version

A lot of earth trampled on the boots of those who are called "pindos". Where did this nickname come from, the Serbs well know. They are sure that they are his "ancestors". The fact is that the American army has strict rules. Only in contrast to other military structures, much is tied up with money. A soldier will not receive insurance when he is injured (if killed, then relatives will be refused), if he does not have all the necessary ammunition. And this set is huge! His weight is about forty kilograms. There and ammunition from a variety of items, batteries and weapons with spare kits, all sorts of souppacks and lanterns, water and special devices. You will not list everything! Serbs wondered why the Pindos are dragging all this on themselves? On a bright sunny day - and with a flashlight. It's funny! Only then they understood that they feel sorry for the money. They are wounded, for example, a soldier, and with him there will not be knee pads or a night vision device - and everything, not see him insurance. Zhmoty, in a word. And from such a weight, American guys are hobbling along the "democratically captured" lands, that penguins are in the ice. It's very gait they become plain ...

Pindos - Penguins

This is noticed by Serbs who have a considerable sense of humor. The fact is that in their language the word "pindos" just means "penguin". It can not be said that the name is affectionate. Rather offensive to the horror. After all, the "seals", which were trampled on the Serbian land, considered themselves heroes, fighters against terrorists. And here is a name that shows them clumsy, stupid birds.

That's why Americans are called pindos. Strongly they hurt the people - though small, but proud. Maybe, the US could not give a worthy rebuff to the brave soldiers, but the whole world was slandered with such an unpresentable nickname.

Latin American version

There is another theory about the origin of the nickname "pindos". Whence such a word went, the inhabitants of Latin America decided to explain. They are in solidarity with the whole world in the general dislike of the forged boots of self-styled "peacekeepers". Do not favor the American bases in Europe, or in Asia, or on other continents. This is the reality of life. According to the Latin American version, this offensive name came from pendejos. For our ear, the word sounds like "pendehos". In translation into Russian - an idiot. Also nothing joyful for "fur seals" and other American soldiers. But here it's not up to pity for them. Strongly they have annoyed the world, so much that people are fighting for the right to give them the most offensive nickname.

As the "term" reached Russia

And the story happened during an incident in Kosovo in 1999. Then the Russian paratroopers entered Slatina airport, which is near Pristina. It turned out so unexpectedly for the NATO members, which caused a shock. The first to approach the airport were the British. Seeing the Russians, they quickly retreated, away from sin. Then the Americans organized a camp opposite the airport. So for a while, the parts stood side by side. The local population supported the Russians. It also explained to the paratroopers why the Americans are Pindos. But the funniest thing happened next. After all, the word two hundred paratroopers would hardly be so quickly introduced into Russian. He was literally "advertised" on TV.

How the term gets unexpected popularity

Scandal then in intergovernmental circles flared serious. Political degrees went off scale. It was necessary to get out of the situation until nuclear weapons were used. To smooth out the impression, it was necessary to calm the public of the countries. Reports from Kosovo regularly appeared on blue screens. In one of them, a Russian boy, who turned out to be in the center of events, told fellow citizens about how local people call the so-called peacekeepers. This, of course, the Americans did not like. Therefore, General Yevtukhovich, commander of Russian peacekeepers at that time, appealed to officers and soldiers with an appeal, in which the following phrase was heard: "Do not call the Pindos Pindos". It is clear that by doing this, he literally tightly soldered offensive nickname in the US military. Now it stuck to all the inhabitants of the country.

Are all Americans called Pindos?

For the sake of justice, it should be noted that every US citizen deserves a nasty nickname. After all, what is its meaning? They were awarded "peacekeepers" for impudence, slowness, lack of respect for the local population. Is this the difference between all the inhabitants of America? Of course not. About them they say this only when they want to emphasize the imperial views of this superpower. In discussions of political orientation, discussions of economic problems taking place in the network, it is customary. It can be said, has become a tradition. In this simple way a person emphasizes his views and point of view at a given moment. This is not an assessment of the whole people, but only a clear demonstration of the critical attitude to the political methods of the elite of the States. The person will write in the comments "pindos" - and everyone understands exactly how he relates to the problem.

If at the very beginning the Pindos were called only by the military, who broke into the ruffian countries in a boorish manner, trampled on the traditions and views of the local population, now this behavior is seen in other spheres of activity of the American state. To the original meaning of the word - greedy, clumsy, stupid, unable to respect another opinion - the following was added: aggressive, brazen, cruel, cunning and so on. Almost everywhere the nickname "pindos" is perceived as a synonym for words tyrant, invader, hooligan, ruthless aggressor. Although not all Americans are like that. For the most part, they live their cares and joys, sincerely wondering why they are not loved.
