The tooth of wisdom is cut

Wisdom teeth are the last molars in the dentition . The wisdom tooth is usually cut at the age of 17 to 25 years, that is, much later than the rest, at an age when a person can already be considered wise.

The tooth of wisdom is cut: what to do

Problems with the eruption of wisdom teeth can bring not only minor unpleasant moments, but also quite serious consequences, which sometimes have to be very long and expensive to correct.

Problems with teething wisdom:

1. The appearance of unpleasant symptoms. For example, if the wisdom tooth hurts , sometimes there may be swelling, a fever, an unpleasant odor from the mouth. All this happens because of the inflammatory process (in the area of eruption).

2. Teeth do not move properly and there is a so-called "crowding of teeth". This happens because there is simply not enough room for teething wisdom teeth. So, they start to move aside all the other teeth.

Your dentist must evaluate whether the length of the lower jaw is enough to fit all the teeth there. If space is not enough, it is advisable to remove the wisdom tooth as soon as possible . Or it will lead to the need for treatment and correction of the bite in the orthodontist. And this is a very long and expensive procedure. Correct bite will have at least a year. Therefore, always pay attention to the dentist's length of the jaw line.

3. The appearance of pericoronaritis. At the moment when the wisdom tooth is cut, that is, only its mounds appear, its crown is usually covered with a mucous membrane. This area of the mucosa, covering the crown of the tooth, was called the "hood".

Quite often there can be inflammation of this hood. This happens because a space is formed between the tooth surface and the hood, into which the food remains. And this is the best environment for the reproduction of bacteria. The inflammatory process is called pericoronaritis. It is accompanied by swelling of tissues located around the wisdom tooth, the course of pus, a very unpleasant odor from the oral cavity, fever, difficulties with opening the mouth and other unpleasant symptoms.

If there was pericoronaritis, it is necessary to perform an operation to excise the hood. This procedure is almost not traumatic and takes only minutes 2 times. There are situations where excision of the hood does not help, then they decide to remove the wisdom tooth.

4. Wisdom teeth can lead to destruction of a number of standing teeth. After all, often the wisdom tooth is cut in such a way that its position is inclined and the front knobs of the crown begin to rest against the standing tooth. Such unceasing pressure leads to the destruction of the enamel at the point of contact and the appearance of caries.

Often situations are obtained when, due to the fact that the wisdom teeth are cut, it is impossible even to conduct a full-fledged treatment with a nearby tooth. In this case, the doctor, most likely, will recommend removing a new tooth.

There are indications for the removal or preservation of the wisdom tooth. But the decision should only be made by a specialist. He can assess the position of the teeth, if there are inflammatory processes, will consider the X-ray data and give a full consultation and advice on the situation.

If the top of the wisdom tooth is already near the surface of the gum, in order to speed up the eruption and relieve the pain symptoms, often gum the gum over the erupting tooth. The doctor decides on this procedure only after examining the X-ray data.

If the wisdom tooth hits the cheek, pay attention to it. After all, permanent trauma to the mucosa leads to inflammation and development of ulcers.
